Ok so Im finally getting all the bugs worked out to its all small things. now I have an issue with my dome light and the buzzer. I dont want the buzzer, it drives me nuts. But I do want my dome light to come on when I open the door. Is there a wire on the box I can cut to get rid of it or is it a re-wire the dome light thing.

On the up side to everything. I just scored a 2.7 motor/tranny/t-case and all the electrical out of a 99 taco for $400 with fresh rebuild 10000 miles ago and all the documentation. Ill be swapping that in this spring

Want key in ignition, but not seatbelt alert?

Buzzer comes on when:
1) You open door and leave key in ignition.
2) You turn ignition on ( I guess all the time) to remind you to put on seatbealt, 3) and I believe when you take driver seatbelt off.

IF, and only IF, you want key in ignition reminder (1) but want to get rid of annoying buzzer each time you turn on ignition (2), my solution is on Yotatech here

NO need to cut or butcher stock wiring/components. Domelight will not be affected.

up above your feet just disconnect it i did over 3 years ago no issues dome works no problem its about a 2x2 inch square box says buzzer right on it.

The problem with just disconnecting the box is that the buzzer and dome light are tied together thru the buzzer box. I went a couple years in my last 4runner before I figured that out.

In the end I dont want any buzzer. Right now it only works when I have the key in and the door open.

on my 85 4runner it only beeps when i turn the key off and the head lights are still on

Ignition key is off AND lights are on... even when driver's door is closed = buzz?
OR
Ign OFF, AND lights on, AND driver's door is opened =buzz?

It does not buzz as soon as you turn IGN on? You're lucky. This latter part is the most annoying and my mod took care of it. Now, because of my mod:
Buzzer only sounds when I leave key in ignition AND open driver's door.
Does not sound when I first turn IGN on, nor when I take seatbelt off.

My 86 4Runner dlx did not have light remind relay so I made another sub-$10 light reminder mod for when I leave tail lights/headlights on AND open driver's door.

it beeps only when lights are on and i turn ignition off , with door opened or closed it will beep never when i turn ignition on and doesnt beep if seat belts are not on. but a beep would of saved my battery one time when i left key in on the accessory position . so the only beep I ever get is if i leave the lights on , im not sure why that is the only beep it gets , its a sr5 , 5speed

Did you mean to put a period somewhere^^^ so it's clearer what you're trying to say?

You mean it does not beep when left in accessory and door is opened? Stock 4Runners, even dlx do.

Maybe the previous owner did not like the beeping and did like many of the forum members here did. Disable the beep somehow.

If you want ti restored to stock, you would have to look at schematic and restore wiring according to it.

i eliminated the buzzing and retained the door-open dome light function by taking the buzzer box apart. the buzzer function is provided by a winding and a metal arm. i inserted a piece of electrical tape between the winding surface and the moveable arm - now the arm strikes the tape, and doesn't make a noise. i can restore the function by removing the tape.

i may have to read up on RADs light reminder install, as that's one i'd like to have, too.

Remove Buzzer, Replace with One Diode - Dome Lights Works from Driver's Door

Just did this today... :)

HAH!

I do not need a reminder to put on my seatbelt, I find the "key in ignition" buzzer annoying, and I already have the rad4runner anti-lock-out device, so...
