Damn.... These Dunlops really f*cking suck.

I still don't see why the Dunlops get such a bad reputation on this forum... They seem just fine to me and have decent snow traction for an all-season tire.

Funny thing here is that I've heard people complain about the Revo's performance in snow, saying it left a lot to be desired.

I think I'll stick with my Dunlops until they wear out and then maybe consider another tire... or maybe I'll just look for someone selling their stock Dunlops on the forum and buy 'em for cheap

May have to do with personel opinion and what someone previously drove, for me I gave away a Pathfinder with Yokohama Geolandar AT+II tires that had really aggressive tread, so going into the all season Dunlop tires was a downgrade for me with snow traction, but take other who have only ever driven cars with street tires a 4Runner with all the 4WD and star systems is a giant leap forward even with the Dunlops.

Each vehicle is different, I've had friends who thought Expeditions sucked in the snow and other who thought they where good, it all depends

hahahaha... thanks for the great offer, but I have less than 3000 miles on my 4Runner, so I don't think I'll be needing tires any time soon.

Considering the fact that my 4Runner will not see more than 6000 miles per year, I might be selling it before it needs tires!

I went with the larger size because I like the larger look. Yes, I know it will throw the odometer and speedometer off a little. I guess not enough to matter to me. I had intended to size up when I went to have them installed, but the other advantage is that the 265/70/17's were cheaper than OEM size. Can't complain about that. And I don't think the increase in size is significantly enough to matter. I have gotten a ton of compliments about the tires--very noticible.

Okay, that's fine.... but I sure hope that you bought 5 of those tires and not just 4.

If you are still using the factory issued spare tire, you'll probably end up with all sorts of problems. Since your new tires are 1 inch taller, putting the factory spare on will change the revolutions of that particular wheel.

Now that I think about it, your 4Runner may even be undriveable like that... especially considering all the electronic gizmos that look at wheel speed to function.

If you don't already have a matching spare, I'd get one as soon as possible.

I have 300 miles on the Dunlops so far. No problems in the rain at all and much of my driving so far has been in rain. Starting and stopping in the rain isn't a problem. Haven't had any snow to speak of since I've gotten the 2005 4Runner Sport but I'll withhold final judgement until then.

Recomended air pressure by Toyota is 32 psi. I've seen several posts of unhappy persons using this tire running a higher air pressure. Could this be some of their problem? It might cause the tire to wear quicker?

Dunlop's website shows this AT20 as a "new" tire. Could some of the earlier batches been bad or is the 265/65-17 a new size in the AT20 lineup and the problems have been with this tire size?

The UTQG for the AT20 265/65-17 is 300 B B however most of the other sizes for the AT20 rate as 500 A B.

Ideas?

When I first picked up my 4-Runner I had no traction problems with the Dunlops, but I did have a vibration issue. What would happen is these tires would develop a slight flat to them when the vehicle was parked outside at night. In the morning I'd get a vibration, like I threw a tire weight. It would go away after 5 miles or so of highway driving, but was very annoying.

Traction started to decrease a lot as I approached 10,000 miles. I currently have around 13,000 miles on them, and they are horrible in the snow. I have to be pretty careful, as they are very unpredictable. I'm planning on replacing them next fall though, trying to get these Dunlops to last me until then. Haven't had a lot of bad weather so far this winter, so it hasn't been a huge issue.

Firestone will match Costco's price on the Revo's and also give you roadhazard. I got at Firestone and 3 days later I got a nail (damn construction work site) and I dropped off the truck and they repaired for free. No questions asked.
