Dang headrest wont stay down.

Anyone else have this issue?

I like my headrest all the way down. I set it all the way down.


But it somehow magically raises every couple of days. Invariably I don't notice until I am driving and it is poking me in the back on my head. I can't lower it while in the vehicle because my left shoulder is messed up and wont let me reach back to release the lock. So I literally have to pull over and stop, get out, lower the headrest and start again.

Starting to think the darn thing is haunted.

BTW I am the ONLY that drives my Runner or even sits in the driver seat.

Read the manual on the headrests. They will move into a proper position during a collision by a mechanism in the seat back. So if you are placing enough force during driving from your upper body I can see where it might shift the headrest slightly like you are experiencing. This system may also be designed to make that adjustment that is bugging you simply by sitting in it with no unusual force by you to the seat back. Think 'Smart headrest'. I see the same change in that I see the gap where my Raingler head rest hand grabs go increase over time.

So it's haunted, I have a haunted headrest.

Never thought I would need to research the manual for a headrest.

Do you have kids that ride in back? I ask because this happens to me, too...

They're using the headrest to leverage themselves around the backseat, getting in, and getting out.

...just a thought.

I'm not sure I understand your question, but I think the headrest has several notches where it can be set. I think I remember that the lowest notch sets the headrest almost to where it touches the seat, but not quite. If you're wanting the headrest to rest on the seat back, I am not sure there is a notch for that low. It may be that you slide it down and then it slowly raises back up to the lowest setting (notch). If I'm remembering correctly.
 
Mine totally does this too. I place it all the way at the bottom and after a while I notice it has raised itself back up to the first notch. It's only 1-1.5 inches but that's all it takes to be annoying for me. As mentioned above, there is no notch at the very bottom though which is why I guess it does that.

I saw this Thread and had to laugh.

Mine does the same thing. I'll notice it up a bit, and slide it back down. A few days later it's moved again!
 
My god... I thought I was the only person this happened to. Such a minor inconvenience for me but it kills my OCD.
 
Yep mine does it also. Little annoying but shove it back down and a few days later rinse and repeat
 
Ha!! Mine as well. And it makes a nice clicking noise as it slowly raises from the dead to the first locking position.
 
Have a camera setup so that it does a time lapse and you can find out how it moves on your own haha. Mine does the same...maybe it slightly moves up slowly when we rotate our heads or when we adjust the way we sit. Iduno[emoji2369]

Listen. Have it up at only one notch. It will stay there. Plus, it is great for air flow when you have the back window down. :yo:
 
It happens on the passenger seat as well, my wife confirmed it. She likes to sit in the back with the kiddos and she just got use to it.
 
Easy fix. I had the same issue. Remove the headrest, pull the bars apart a little bit. If that doesnt work, remove and pull them apart again. If that doesnt do it, remove the headrest again and push them together a bit, repeat if nessessary. Do either of these a little bit at a time. Thats how I resolved this issue. My headreast does creep up from time to time, but its very slow, doesnt go up that high and still allows the headrest to ride up incase of a collision.
 
It's a safety feature. The headrest will automatically raise in the event of impact to try to mitigate whiplash injury, or some such. Small bumps to the seat back will cause the headrests to raise to some degree.
 
:lmao: Mine does this as well on both seats. Took me awhile to realize there's no bottom notch to keep it in place.
