Daniel's Rear cargo boxes/sleeping platform

Just finished building my rear cargo boxes and sleeping platform for my '02 Runner. I built it for my upcoming offroad/camping trip. for those of you who have built your own you know how much of a pain it is. nothing is square or perfect in a car so its more of a design as you build! enjoy! hope itll help some of you out for ideas and what not.

Built everything out of a single sheet of 1/2" plywood

Getting the end piece situated and measured out with the spacing against the wall

Right side box just about complete. also made this end a 45 angle as well to maximize what small storage this box would provide. also had to put a cleat on the bottom ends of each box as the flooring and carpet has a slight drop

Went to Home Desperate and picked up the hinges, ind/out carpet and lock for the boxes. had to Bevel out the edges for a smoother fit for the hinge barrells

I just used a skill saw for the bevel.

Heres the cleats that are on the sides of each box which will be used to slide my 3/4" sheet of plywood sleeping platform. that way i can sleep up high and have some storage below

Very nice. Like the ensign too, keeping the depth to use for every occasion! Let us see the final picks too!

Thanks! I'll post some pics tomorrow of the insides now that I have stuff in them. The sleeping platform should be done this week as well.
