Darkest Interior Carpet?

What was the darkest carpet option available for 4th gen?

Even the stone and charcoal seat options seem to have light gray carpet.

I love the look of an all dark interior.

Sure, all black interior looks great...but a pain in the @$$ to keep clean. Every little thing shows up on it. Needless to say I vacuum the inside a lot.

Funny, I actually prefer a black/dark interior because I find it's easier to clean. I should say it hides stains better, so I don't have to clean as much. My 2001 Camaro SS all black interior looks virtually brand new.

4Runner's only came in either grey or tan interiors AFAIK. I also prefer black interiors over lighter colored ones and always thought they were worse for wear than black.

A couple times I've resorted to dying my interiors. I once had a Jeep Grand Cherokee that had a taupe (greyish tan) interior. A drunk buddy of mine got sick when trying to work off a buzz with red Gatorade and ruined my carpet. No amount of scrubbing, cleaning, steam could get whatever stomach chemical that was out of the carpet. I grabbed some VHT Black Interior Dye ( Amazon.com: VHT SP942 Vinyl Dye Black Satin Can - 11 oz.: Automotive ) and removed the carpet. Sprayed out in the early morning sun, brush it in, resprayed as needed, and let it dry & air out and had it back in looking like a brand new black carpet. Actually looked pretty good, and have thought about doing this again in the 4Runner to clean up the grey carpet that's now dirty and worn from 8 years of use.

*** I've also used the Dupli-Color Vinyl & Fabric stuff. Not bad but didn't apply nearly as nicely as the VHT. The VHT was more of a true dye as it permeated the material and the Dupli-Color applied more as a paint.

There is a 4th gen Limited I see at the gym with the Shadow Mica exterior color and what appears to be a Charcoal leather interior. It looks really sharp! However, perhaps it's not OEM.

Good idea about the dye. SEM seems to be some of the highest regarded dye, but like anything, proper prep is crucial.

scw1991 - taupe is a greyish tan...kind of like skin color. If it's black something went wrong lol. Maybe charcoal??
