Today I spent part of the day searching the forum for dash cam info as well as reading a plethora of reviews, here there and everywhere.
What I found was either outdated, or garbage. The best I found was here, but it was mostly outdated due to the rapidly improving and expanding market of dash cams.
I found that elsewhere, many of the reviews were paid reviewers, or freedee reviewers, and nothing I found was worth the keystrokes. Even what I found here was lacking, mostly because the market has evolved.
In several reviews I read "in this price range" or words to that effect, but I never seemed able to locate the high end, or even the middle and read anything that had to do with real world use and experience.
As well, the market is flooded and it hard to do any real comparison or even know if what you buy is not a knock off, because the noise to sound ratio is so ridiculous.
I am not as concerned with price, as I am with reliability, especially here in the desert southwest where we see extreme temperature changes. I to know, in need to know, what I buy is actually going to work.
I am particularly interested in a camera system that will give the most coverage and I would love a system that also covered the drivers side and passenger windows, for that one time I run into John Law who failed high school civics and does not have a clue about the ancient document the constitution. Perhaps I need two systems? I have actually thought about cobbing together system, but again, information on the best products is hard to locate for a moderately savoy techie guy...information overload comes into play.
I am starting this thread in the hope that we can gather current models, information, and reviews, based on real time use, by this most austere and robust group of motor heads, wheelers, and techies.
So, anybody else interested?
