Dash illumination problems?

My 4runner's dash is pretty much dead in the lighting department. The instrument cluster has no lighting other than the check lights along the bottom (check engine, seat belt, etc.) Also, the blower motor is not turning on for the heater controls. The radio and cigarette lighter ARE working though.

I have checked all fuses and they are good. What circuit is all of this non-working stuff on? Do I have a bad ground somewhere? I'm wondering if anyone may have experienced this and can tell me what to look for.

first off, be sure the dimmer switch is turned up......i know it sounds obvious, but it's happened to me....thought was a burnt fuse somwhere but was simple as turning up dimmer hope that all it is for you.
not sure about the blower motor i've read somewhere that there's a resistor that burns out that can be replaced...not sure where i read it tho....

The heater could possibly be a fried relay, when resisters go out, usually you'll end up loosing the setting you use the most -low,med,high... But if it wasn't your dimmerswitch and your dash lights still don't work, I would surf the web for a wiring diagram for the heater/dashlights, I don't know for sure but I took my Toyota electrical diagnosis class a couple quarters ago, and I'm thinking they probably use a common ground point....

What year's your runner? If I can remember I could look it up at school and check out the diagram for you.

blower motor

If I remember correctly, there is a resistor pack mounted in the passanger side blower duct under the glove box, replacing that may fix your problem. You can check them for continuity, and also check the wires going to it to make sure you've gor voltage...
