dash light christmas tree

So yesterday was a bad day for the ol 4Runner. 03 V8 Sport, 190k miles.

-10 to 0 degrees air temp.

1. Upon initial startup in the morning the VSC, VSC Off, Brake and ABS light were all on. I figured it was a wheel speed sensor not working from the extreme cold. These lights did go off at one point, but came right back on and remained on for the rest of the day (3 hour drive home).

2. During the drive home the truck was driving fine. I looked down at the instruments and see the "check Engine" light is on and the speedometer is at zero. We stopped and check things over and find nothing wrong. Also of note, the outside air temp is reading 0 the entire drive from NE Iowa to Central Iowa. It was definitely warmer in Central Ia than 0 when we got home.

This morning I reset the computer and let it run for 20 minutes to relearn parameters. The check engine light is off. The outside air temp is reading correctly (+15). Speedometer is still not working and the ABS, VSC, VSC Off, and Brake lights are all still on.

So any ideas on why the speedo is out?
And what is up with the ABS, VSC, VSC off and brake lights? I figured once everything warmed up the lights would go out..

Run the codes...go to a local AutoZone, Napa, or Checkers and see what codes you're rig is rocking...from there, you can better figure on the next step...

I believe if both rear wheel sensors are faulty the speedometer does not give a reading. This has happened with my buddies FJ a few times. I've had the Christmas Tree dash a few times every winter. It seems to happen after I got smashing through snow banks and snow wheeling. Likely need new sensors.
