04 Dash looks like Christmas Tree

So, been wrestling a bit with the old 4Runner lately.

2004 Limited V6 - 239k.

Have had the both VSC lights on and the ABS - replaced the brake lamp switch a couple times with no luck.

Also have a couple check engine codes:
P0171 - Too Lean on Bank 1
P0174 - Too Lean on Bank 2

and now the new one that just showed up today:
P2198 Biased/Stuck Rich Bank 2 Sensor 1

So are we rich or lean? And the VSC/ABS thing is killing me as it won't go away.

Open to thoughts. Only recent work is when I replaced plugs and ignition coils. They all looked good except the driver side closest to driver - appeared to have a ring leak - heavy oil. Replaced, said a quick prayer, and seems to be working well.

Appreciate any input - lots of moving parts, but this is the place for learning how to root out the gremlins!

Understand this first. Whenever the CIL is illuminated the ABS/Skid/Brake Etc. lamps will illuminate as well. Do NOT go down the rabbit hole of looking for a problem with the ABS system etc without first checking for engine, emission codes. In other words a simple defective gas cap will illuminate all the above lamps. When any of the above mentioned lamps are illuminated that is the vehicle notifying you that that particular system is deactivated by the ECM, such as if the ABS light is on the ABS system is non functionable until the main culprit/issue is fixed.

Instead of throwing money at it, i'd look at some videos on the two lean codes. You need to understand what's causing it and often times it's something simple.

Check with your local auto parts stores, they may have a smoke machine in their free tool loan program, where you put down a deposit, they loan you a tool and you get your deposit back when you return the tool in the same condition as when you borrowed it, just be sure to check any tool for damage or missing parts before you leave the store, if you find any issues have then document it before you leave with the tool.

So, I got a smoke machine and it is leaking badly around the gas cap. I put an inflatable into the gas tube to see if it was the cap, and it is still leaking out from below. How crazy do I get? Do I try to replace the ring seal (77391)? The Fuel tank shield assy (77290)? The filler neck insulator (77219)? Or do I cry uncle and take it to someone who knows what they are doing?

Replace the cap, any rubber hoses going from the cap to the tank, and any other rubber lines that the smoke was coming out of, the lights won't go away until you get that system leak free again.

Grounds

Recommend checking grounds, especially from battery to chassis, and ecu to chassis. My 2005 grounds are very touchy and light up idiot lights on the dash from time to time. Set various codes, too. Happy hunting!

So.....to close out the story after trying a bunch of things I took it in to the professionals. They replaced the front O2 sensors on both sides, and also cleaned up my MAF.

As for brakes, both front speed sensor sub harness had been repaired in the past, and one was shorting. Replaced both of those and no more brake errors.

So.....a lil under $2k all in with the work I did and the garage and we are error code free and zero lights on the dash! Well, except for TPMS - didn't replace them when they failed years back. All is well that ends well!

If you want to address that blinking TPMS light on your dash, check out the YT vid where you can jumper the two wires to the TPMS ecu ( brown colored one , if memory serves, located just behind glove box. Its a simple 10 mins. job and no more blinking TPMS light. Did mine ( '05 4R Ltd w/V8 ) several years ago. Zero bad side effects, just removes light operation on dash.
