dash lights

Hi,
Yes I,ve got the same problem. Only the A/C light goes on. The rest is unlit. Let me know if you find out anything.

Put all your selectors in the middle, pull off the knobs on the selectors, and pry out the cover that has all the selections printed on it. There is a piece of plastic that pulls out, with a lamp underneath,

Hey folks...

I'm new here, and I just had this problem. It's a quick and cheap fix. The bulb you will need is a Sylvania #74. It costs about 2 bucks if I remember correctly.
The faceplate can be pried off with a pocketknife or a small flathead screwdriver after the selector knobs are pulled off. Be careful not to break the faceplate. the a/c button has to be pulled out. Again, be careful not to break the tabs. Once these items are removed, you will have access to the diffuser. Pull it out and the bulb is right there in the middle. The trickyest part of the whole deal is there is a colored rubber "condom" on the bulb that you may want to keep. Unroll it from the old buld and roll it back on the new one. (It makes the hvac controls light up green.)

I just did this about a week ago. Took about 5 minutes.

Hope it helps!

alright, just got done installing that stupid f'n bulb.....lol.....what a pain in the butt.....you have remove the whole dash, so that you can get the a/c contol bezel past the dash bezel....took about an hour since i was careful not to break any tabs.......just a tedious job for 1 tiny bulb, but for the first time in the 2 yrs i've had my truck, that light works now....lol

No way! The faceplate just pops right off if you pry it from the passenger side. Honestly, it just takes a couple of minutes. You should'nt have to remove any of the dash.

Sorry about your luck.

Hey, on the bright side you know how to remove the dash now!:D

i dunno know....i couldnt get it off without taking the dash off....but at least it's done....lol

Yeah I know. It was a real head scratcher for me too. I lucked out and found a post on yotatech a while back. Pretty good write up with pics and all.

I've got a 95... maybe mine is a little different.

well i guess i decided to take the long route......at least i know how to disassemble the intire dash now....lol :bash: ..lol

I've had to do this twice in the last two weeks. The bulb lasted 2 days this last time. Any idea why they burn out so quick?

Doug

Do they get very hot?
I'd suggest try to get a LED replacement for these bulbs. It last the truck and doesn't get hot.
I've had this same problem, but I solved it the otherway around. Just put a lamp underneath my board for the computer...
But I could guess a LED would do the task...
