daystar, 5100, stock springs?

I am new to this site and am slowly acquiring parts for my fiance's 07 Runner. I currently have a daystar kit(2.5/1.5) and bought Bilstein 5100, due to a leaking seal, but haven't installed them. Can I run the 5100(on the lowest setting) with stock springs and the daystar kit until I can get the springs I want? Any feedback would be great. Thanks

I dont see why you couldnt. You may also be able to run stock springs and the 5100's at 2.5 to get the same effect.

Don't run the spacers on the front, use the adjustment on the 5100s to get the front lifted. It'll work fine that way until you get the new coils.

In theory yes, not positive how noticeable it will be. However, with the addition of a spacer on top of the already longer than stock 5100's, you run a pretty high risk of damaging front end components due to over-extension. By using the adjustment on the 5100's, you're not actually lengthening the overall length of the shock so it's a safer option.

I just recently did the same thing with FJ coils and bilsteins and don't use the front spacer, just the rear, set the front to 2.5. I had to set mine to 1.75 because the coils were much longer/stronger than the factory.

You'll love the ride with the bilsteins. Sell the front spacers or return them.

What size tires did you end up running with that setup?

I have BFG at 285/70/17s and still have room for bigger. I'm running BFG at 265/70/17s now because I bought them new on another vehicle, they have almost a full life yet, can't wait to go back to 285s.

thanks for the feedback. Sounds like I am running the 5100s and stock springs to get the 2.5 I am looking for, until I can find FJ springs or something comparable. what do you have to do as far as wheel well mods to fit the 285/70 /17s with that setup?

More than likely you'll need wheel adapters or properly offset wheels, I believe it will rub heavily on a stock 4th gen (i.e. stock bumper, liners not trimmed, ect.)

Do you plan on going with an aftermarket bumper in the future? The stock springs probably won't like the added weight as much as good aftermarket ones, (I know you said you had a set of springs in mind, I just wanted to pass that along.)

no aftermarket bumper in the future, this is my fiance's rig. Just going for a higher more proportioned look, ie spidertrax and new springs(soon).

Monkey really didn't need much but I did remover front mud flaps and pinned back front fender wells like others have mentioned. I don't think I need it but why not have extra room.

just came across good used tires throught a demo program. which do you think would be my best option, with the stock springs and 5100s ?
