Daystar budget boost: cutting stud

Hi, I just bought the Daystar 1" front budget boost kit for my 2006 SE. Instructions state to cut the existing stock stud down to 3/4" or so, as the stock stud has like a triangular tip. According to an older post by Singleshot (link below), cutting was not required. However, what are the long term effects of this, because my wife and kids ride with me. Can i get away with not having to cut the stud? If so, that would be awesome! Thanks in advance!

I also would like to know this. I too bought the budget boost. I have read that some people cut the studs, while others don't. If it isn't required than what's the purpose of putting that in the instructions?

with the budget boost you have to cut the stud for the Daystar stud extenders to go all the way down on the stock stud. You do want them to bottom out on the shock hat. What i did was just take the shock and grind the coned piece on the stock stud down until you get to 3/4 of an inch (i think thats what daystar calls for). If you have a bench grinder you can just hold the whole coilover and knock these down.
