Daystar Comfort Ride and towing

No wheel spacers. Was rubbing at the union between the two pieces of plastic on the front of the fender liner. Hard to describe without a photo. I can take one if youd like.

I was looking over the installation instructions on the Daystar website. Did you need to separate the ball joint from the spindle? I would think the suspension would droop enough to remove the strut assembly without taking the front end apart, but it looks like you need to disassemble everything?

I didn't. Just unhooked the sway and stood on the spindle while my buddy pulled it through the other side. It was a really easy install.

Yep that's the right part number!
Use the " promo code" Loyalty at checkout at AutoAnything to get 15% off anything which brings it to $23.99 off for the Daystar's . Works on about anything they sell too.
Harper, do you know if this lift is an easy install for us with the Limited Xreas suspension? I just want to lift my front only by 1 inch or so to level out the body. I've read that due to the Xreas oil lines that this is more difficult?? Do you know the part number for this minor lift in front only for a 2010 Limited 4X4? Thanks for your help and I enjoy reading your site! Brad in Conroe, TX.

Its a little bit more challenging as you'll be working in the front wheel wells unless you disconnect the XREAS. That being said it's well worth the effort, maybe one extra beer worth. Separating the upper ball joint helps, also remove the ABS and brake line retaining clips, and a shot of PB blaster the night before.
Plan for your first drive to be to the alignment shop.
I've done my last two Runners (05LTD, 11LTD)both with XREAS with only hand tools.

It's not that difficult, keep us posted

Thanks! Is there any chance of loosing any of the oil from the Xreas? Any photo's on how to from anyone is greatly appreciated and I'll drink that extra beer for YOU!

any squeaks or noises from the daystar lift? that is my biggest fear with spacer lifts.

could you post some ground to fender measurements?

No squeaks or noises aside from the sound of tires rubbing in reverse. I will take some photos of the measurements for you. I still have the drivers side sag, trying to decide on the best way to tackle that project :/

Hey Rookie Question here!

The link above is for 2003-2009 4runners. I called AA.com and they don't show any information on this kit being compatible with a 5th gen.

Just looking for clarification that this kit:
2003-2009 Toyota 4Runner Lift Kits - Daystar KT09115BK - Daystar Comfort Ride Lift Kits
will fit on a 5th gen, and that it lifts both the front and rear (2.5/1.5)......

Just making sure I'm ordering the right product --
I trust this forum for advise more than guys at AA.com

Thank you!

It will fit, its on my truck right now :)

Im really leaning to the Daystar kit but math wise Im afraid the front will sit up higher then the back or with just a little weight in the back I will have reverse rake. I would like just some rake in the front. It seems it should be 2/1.5 instead of 2.5/1.5. I want to then run 285/70/17 Firestone Dest. AT's...(hopefully no rubbing or Ill have to move the fender liner..still dont get that mod but have read about it--maybe once you get into it, Ill know how to move it). Any advice will help. I would assume a local tech. could do this lift for around 300 (plus alignment)? The other question is what type of positive caster will I get, Im at about 3 right now which is good. Will the lift also put any stress on other parts like ball joints?

Thanks! :fishing:

My tires rub a bit. I moved the liner and they still rub a bit, I just let them. It is not bad enough to worry about. My tent trailer with 300# tongue weight did cause some rear sag, but airlift bags stopped all that. I installed the lift with a buddy, and it was super easy. I am thinking of doing coilovers soon, if you are interested I will be selling this kit if I do.

The caster, I am not sure. I let the dealer align it and left it at that. Any lift will put some extra stress on other suspension parts. Enough to cause an issue, I doubt it.
