What the hell is the diference between Daystar/cornfed/toytec....Is it a quality thing or are they all basicly the same because I dont think ive read a bad thing on any of them on this forum. So which one is best for X-REAS and stock 18" michelin? And after seeeing HOJEEPSTERs post with his 06 daystar 2.5/1.5 lift last night im sold but Im guessing it may look a bit different with the stockers on. So what the advise from you guys? Thanks.

cornfed is metal, daystar is poly. both are good. from my past experience with poly, theyre made slightly larger (about 1/16-1/8) to allow for possible settling over time. on my other vec.s they did, but that was a long period of time. (5 -10 years)if you ever look at an old set from another vec. you can see an indentation from where the spring sat. like i said thats nothing, i think he has the x-reas also.

from what I understand, they are all the same concept, they just have different price points and/or are made of different materials.

Cornfed and Toytec use aluminum for the front spacers and UHMW Polyethylene for the rear spacers:
~$285 for the Cornfed 3"/2"
http://www.burtmanindustries.com/zoomprod.php?id=4run_03_up_liftkit

~$220 for the ToyTec 3"/1.5" (ToyTec is a forum sponsor, too)
http://www.toyteclifts.com/index.ph...ategory_id=72&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=72

Daystar is poly all the way around:
~$140 for the Daystar 2.5"/1.5"
http://www.amazon.com/Daystar-KT091...s_3?ie=UTF8&n=15684181&s=automotive&carId=001

Someone else will likely give a better explanation and if I left anything out or misspoke, please correct me. But this is what I understand to be the differences/similarities between the 3 "brands"

Thanks for the info. I will be ordering one of these cornfed or daystar, not sure which one though b/c all my trucks have been stock and I never put a lift on anything. Are there any advantages or disadvantages to either of them? I dont rock crawl or even hard core 4wheel. The extent of my "off road" use is deepish sand on the outter beach and some deep snow every so often. I am looking for a better stance (but keep a little rake up front b/c I always have a mtn. bike on the rear hitch mounted rack) and dont want to lose onroad manners. Im really considering 265/65/18 BFG KO also. Does this factor which one I should go with?

Here is what I have found out. With any leveling/spacer kit, if you put on a larger tire that has a lot of outrageous tread, there may be rubbing up front when you turn your wheels. Members have trimmed bumpers, fenders, etc.

Here is what I am planning on going with for my T4R. Either a 3/2 cornfed or a 3/1.5 toytec (I'm still trying to figure out if that extra .5" is going to matter, because I too, have a 4 bike Yakima hitch rack, that with 4 bikes, could cause some sag). For tires, I was thinking about the Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs because of these fun Colorado winters. Plus, when I saw these tires in person, I had to get them. I was going to run 275/65/18.

Also, read through this thread. I learned a lot from it:

Probably not, but I'm not 100% sure. Maybe someone else will answer that for you.

Also, try out this link (click on the picture):

Looks like you will be gaining about 1" in tire diameter.

even if they rub, the fix is real easy, just move the inner plastic fender forward (no need to cut) & if theres still rubbiing on the bumper after that, just trim the very tip (where it hits) if you make a nice stiraght cut, you cant even tell anything was done. but with stock wheels, i think all youll have to do is move the inner fender, unless you get wheel spacers.

Thanks for the help guys. I think the toytec is to high @ 3" and I still would like a bit of rake so i guess the toytec is out. I figured with all the guys on this forum Id get a load of suggestions on whats the better way to go Daystar or cornfed, guess not. Now the spacers I dont need as this just pushes the wheels out a bit futher for a wider stance correct? Again thanks fellas this lift thing is new to me.

This has been hashed out over so many threads in the last few years that most simply dont read or reply to them anymore. The search works well now so try that...most know my opinion but if you havent seen it its on my lift page so i dont have to type the same stuff over and over. If you have any specific questions not addressed there feel free to ask away to me via email or pm.

just get the cornfed 1 in. spacer lift for the front & call it a day.

Perfect J.A. Thanks alot great write up as well. My head hurt with ALL the treads I was reading and just took the LAzy way out for a quick couple of opinions. So I guess your loving the daystar with no regrets and all is well with the truck? No I just have to choose a tire brand and size....dont worry Ill use the search for it :hatsoff:. Thanks again.

this is correct, it's been installed for two years now and no adverse issues thus far. And since the kit is now available for $100 less than I paid i do indeed feel it is the way to go. We are located in the same general area and as you know wheeling areas are few and far between. While I will take the rig off road on occasion its not going to be something I am doing every weekend and as such the DS spacers are perfect. I can understand spending literally thousands more for an adjustable coilover remote resovir setup IF it is going to be used and abused, but for where I'm located and what I use the rig for the DS kit is both appropriate and cost effective. And since it is very similar to the Toytec and CF spacer kits out but for less $$, I say go for it. Good Luck.

Great thanks again. Where did you purchase your Daystar and are spacers recommended? Their web site only gives you truck shops to buy them from. I could go to amazon.com or something I guess or is there a T4R.org sponser that sells them?

Actually a sponsor of my website sells them, Performance Products. Unfortunately I cannot reccommend you to buy them from there as they are available elsewhere for cheaper. I reccommed the old stlye version I have installed which is the two part kit. This kit, it seems, is only available by special request from Wheeler's Offroad. You must specify the two part (front end) old style kit specifically and it is about $100 less than I paid from PP two years ago. Alternatively, you should contact member Falls from this site who may have a new kit for sale iirc. If you want the one part easy install kit, Amazon.com or Wheeler's Offroad is the place to buy I have heard.

Ok will do. I am having a shop do it so why is the two part better? Also what about spacers, do I need them or do you recommend getting them? I will be buying them tomorrrow night or sat morning. Just waiting on tire prices.

2 part is a preference of mine as all topout can potentially overextend things, explained on my page. When you say spacers I guess you are referencing wheel spacers. Not necessary with the DS lift at all, just gives a better wider stance...pushes the wheels out flush with the flares.

Well I went to a VERY reputable truck shop today to order the Daystar with the BFG's and when I began to state what I wanted I was told to dont bother and save my money b/c its not worth the problems youll have in the end. I was told that "he will take my money and install it but ABSOLUTLY DOES NOT RECOMMEND a leveling kit for these trucks (hes been doing this for 24 years plus) and definitly NO wheel spacers. So I left with nothing, Dont know what to do now.

well, all i can say is, you ve read what the guys had to say about the lifts & such, now, your the only one that can make the decision. that mech. may just be someone who doesnt believe in any mods what so ever,, in my opinion , a small spacer lift is nothing to worry about, & wheel spacers are better than they were years ago, but you can forget those if your worried about safety, & get new wheels instead. goodluck
