I recently got the bug back, lifting vechicles ( oh what a feeling ) thanks to all of you and this site.I just finshed lifting my 06 t4r with the daystar kit 2.5 front / 2.0 back , purchased from wheelersoffroad great to deal with.Everything went very smoothly at my friends shop,around 1.5hrs for the front/rear kit installed and torqued, just waiting for the alignment shop to finish up. Alignment finished back to toyota spec ranges. Found tires 275/70/17 mounted them on the front, rubbing on fender liners like 285s.I am doing this without wheel spacers,would they really help out????. Going to run 265/70/17 nokian vatiiva a/t what a great tire. THANKS AGAIN

How do you like the 265/70/17's??? Do they rub at all?? Can you hit a few bumps with no worries??
Josh220, I see you have the same size tires.... what do you think?
Also... do either of you guys have any CV boot issues??
I use to have a 2000 tacoma4x4 with a 3"fabtech and 33/12.5's. I never had rubbing problems but I had a few issues with the boots.... I just don't wanna deal with that again on the T4R

I haven't had any issues yet, I have only heard about the CV boots leaking with 3+ inches of lift. The 2/1 doesn't put too much strain on it. The tire size is great, I haven't had any rubbing except for occasionally when I back out of a driveway with the wheel turned all the way to the left. I think it's a combination of the wheel being turned, and being partially flexed.

Good choice on tires, Vatiiva ( I will assume AT's based on the size) are a good year round choice for New England, especially the wet slop you get on the south shore. You can go bigger with a wheel spacer. Iron Clad Lou just added 1.25" spidertrax spacers, which allow even larger than 265's. Search for his recent post and pix. (although he runs 265/70 there are others running larger sizes) Some fender liner trimming is normal, but you really want to avoid rubbing the UCA's.
265/70/17's do not rub on my 4runner without a lift. However, it really is dependant on the type of tire. MT and agressive AT's have agressive treads near the sidewall and slight size variations between manufacturers all contirbute towards what rubs and what does not.

But like I said, it has only done it twice, and both times it was backing out of the same driveway with the wheels turned as far as possible to the left. They haven't rubbed when they are turned to the right from the same driveway yet. Odd.....

Thanks for checking it out. I think you have the closest setup to what mine will be. I've had my 08' on order since Dec.... they say delivery in March. I've been driving a beat up 00' Monte Carlo that the dealer hooked me up with..... so needless to say I'm anxious!!

Hey KEV, I have had no rubbing on uca's' or on fender liners. I think what josh220 has posted is very possible. The nokians vatiiva AT in a 275/70/17 are 32.1 tall which did rub on fender liners,very close to the uca's and the 265/70/17 are 31.7 tall is what I am running. Away on business unable to post pics, will work on upon my return next week.

Hey ROOK, checkout my other post do wheelspacers really help. Adding w/s will allow the for wider tires (285/70/17) etc, so no contact is made at the uca's. They don't help in the diameter of the tire, you need to cut fenders and liners to fit larger than 275/70/17 in what I have exprienced. Had the nokians wr on 94 camry they made it like all wheel drive, logged 50k on them.Liked the vatiiva AT more aggresive than wr. How are the heated seats?
