Daystar or Revtek 4th generation

4Route, thanks so much for your help. I'm definitely looking into getting the 4"/3" kit. What size tires should I get? I definitely don't want them to look small but I would like them to fit as a spare as well.
On another note, I went to an off-road shop in my area and asked about any spacer kits for my truck and they said that they carry Revtek. But he said that because of the XREAS system that it wouldn't work. I told him about this great forum and how others have had it done. So he called Revtek. Revtek said that it can be done but advised against it and that they're in the process of making a kit specifically for XREAS. But NEs are good, right? Wy would they say that about their Revtek kit?

The Revtek kit doesn't do anything to compensate for the fact that those with XREAS can't change out the rear shocks for longer ones after the lift. NE's works because we have our patented rear shock re-locators, which move the mount up a few inches to accomplish the same thing longer shocks would. Their kit has blown out a few shocks when run on XREAS vehicles. Our re-locs protect against that.

Revtek's kit only comes with longer shocks, so while that's fine for non-XREAS vehicles, it isn't ideal for those WITH XREAS ... hence NE's re-locs.

As for tires ... when you say you want them to fit as a spare ... do you mean that you want something that will fit under the truck where the spare currently stays?? If so ... you'll be somewhat limited. I am pretty sure a few people have fit 265/70s under there ... but with 4" of lift they'll look a little small.

I can definitely tell you that 35" tires will NOT fit under there.

I have 2.5" front and 2" rear and it looks fine with 265/70/17s. Going bigger like 3"F and 2.5"R should still look OK, higher might look funky.

you can fit them stock ... or just raise the front 1" to level everything out ... or do a full kit, but like bulldog said, if you go any higher than 3" it'll look funny ... actually, 2.5" would look just right, just like his.

just to give you an idea, this is my "funny" looking 4runner with a 3'' rear, 4'' front lift (according to what bulldog and 4route said ) with stock tires. i have to agree though, bigger tires would look better, more of that wheel well needs to be filled.

Hey chiefiji, is it just me or does you set-up not look that bad? And if those are stock tires, 70s should look just right. Any member's names I can search for NE 4" kits with 265/70/17?

you are silly ... yours doesn't look bad at all, and everyone has different tastes ... i just know that when i had 3" of lift and the stock tires, they looked tiny to me ... so to go up another inch in lift and only a tiny bit in tire size, well, that'd look small to me as well. but keep in mind i'm running 315s here. so, i look like a midget to me.

And this one is a client from NEs website and it says that he/she is running the 4" kit with 265/70/17. This one looks great, too. The info isn't a typo, is it?

if you are going to run an MT, then yes, the 265/70 is going to look just fine ... those deep, beefy treads make all the difference, seriously.

and yes, that is Tory's runner ... he's running 4" of lift with the 265/70/17 Goodyear MTRs.

The first picture you showed is ToyotaDoodz's rig (the grey one next to another t4r). I believe he's on a 3 inch revtek lift and 265/70/17 BFG AT tires. I am partial to the 3 inch lift, as well, and hope to do this lift and tire combo down the road.

Best of offroad capabilities for my uses and still maintains on road handling.

G3 Trout Runner is right on the nose!!

I have a 3 inch Revtek lift and 265/70/17 BFG AT tires. I need to get a set of NE Relocs to re-establish my articulation in the back. It's not been a problem so far but this type of lift does reduce your flex in the back.

3" was enough for me and what I do. Like G3 said so well, "Best of offroad capabilities for my uses and still maintains on road handling."

The Revtek is 3" front and 2.5" back. Yes, it comes with shocks ($$) you can't use if you have XREAS, and I do. The NE kit will give you a cheaper price because of the shocks. DO get the relocs.

The Revtek is the only lift components I have. I did not change out my spare, it's still the AT 20. I "think" I remember seeing a post where the BFG AT in 265/70/17 does fit but it was tight. Don't quote me on that without searching first. I'd advise doing a test fit at the tire shop before they do all 5 wheels.

I carry a Safety Seal flat repair kit and have on-board air. If I ever did need to mount the spare, I plan to deflate the opposite tire to accommodate the size difference to the tire shop. Not the best, but in all the years of wheeling, I've never had to mount a spare "yet."

Thanks Toyotadoodz! I guess I could deflate the spare if I had to and just fill it up if it was ever needed. Next run of money is going straight towards the lift. I can't wait! Oh hey, this might be a dumb question but anybody know if the re-locs lift the truck up even more? Just want to make sure I accomodate in the front. And on a side note, how do I create my own avatar? I'm using photoshop and cropped it to 75 pixels x 75 pixels with the resolution at 72 and this site says that it's still too big. How small does it have to be?
