I tried the search but got nothing.

Daystar leveling kit that is officially called Budget boost 1" kit...

Anyone have any experience with this? Made of Polyurethane...is this ok? Everyone else seems to use aluminum or other metal. My local shop recommended this one.

I've seen mostly cornfed and toytec on here for those wanting just a 1" leveling kit up front. Your thoughts on this polyurethane 1" budget boost leveler? http://www.daystarweb.com/productli...elYear=2005&txtPartNo=&search.x=10&search.y=5

Havent heard of their budget boost kit before this thread. But upon further inspection of the kit and pic on their site I am noticing two things. First, the part number imprinted on the spacer in the pic is the same topout spacer that is included in the 2.5/1.5 kit. That said it measures 1" in thickness and will provide just about 2" in lift. You can see that longer studs are included and not stud extenders, that means you will need to compress the coil to install.

I like it because it is poly, as DS says, reduces NVH. Also topout design will retain ride quality.

4WP appears to simply be using a generic pic. The bigger issue is that that part number will provide 2" of lift and not 1" as advertised. Call to confirm the size of the spacer before ordering and double the spacer size to estimate the lift amount.
 
For some reason I'm not understanding how 1" of material ends up yielding a 2" lift. How is this possible...

It is due to the suspension geometry of the front end control arms. Though not a 4Runner setup, This pic may help you visualize the idea.

Didn't you explain somewhere what the ratio is between the measurement of the spacers and the resulting lift on the 4Runner?
I thought that I read that somewhere and I think it was in this forum but I do not remember for sure...

Does that mean that any spacer assembly should measure half of what the lift should be?
For example, a 1" lift will be accomplished with a .5" spacer or a topout and a preload spacer (as in the front Cornfed spacer lift) totalling .5" when added together?

Yes, when referring to the front suspension, double the spacer size to determine the amount of lift.

The point I am trying to make here to the OP is that the spacers shown in the budget boost pic are the exact same part number of the topout spacer i am running. That part number is 1" in size and provides 2" of lift. So either DS is running the incorrect pic for their budget boost lift or they are describing the lift amount incorrectly. So just confirm with DS before ordering, if you really want only 1" of lift.
 
Daystar wont return my emails or calls. My local shop says he's sure this will result in a 1" only total front lift. I told him that I think there could be a mistake on the website (either p/n or pic) and he disagreed and says all is normal. ????
 
Of course right after I sent that message Daystar called. Guy said it is definitely 1" of material that will result in 1" total lift. He said the picture is correct and the part number is correct.

I believe you JA, but everyone's story is conflicting and I don't know what to do now...
 
Thats interesting, so what he is saying is that the 1" material in the budget boost topout spacer is exactly the same as the 1" topout spacer in the old style 2.5/1.5.

Again, what he (DS) is saying is that the 2:1 ratio does not apply to the topout spacer.

Call him back and see what he says in reference to the fact that since the budget boost kit and the old style DS 2.5/1.5 kit are using the same topout, therefore the 0.5" preload must be then yielding a 3:1 to 4:1 ratio or 1.5"(marketed)-2.0"(observed) lift.

Alternatively you can call in reference to their new 2.5" "easy install" kit, and ask they what does that topout spacer measure. According to them it should measure 2.5" exactly not 1/2 that. Also ask on this forum if anyone installed the new easy install kit and have them measure the topout spacer size, see if the ratio is 1:1 or 2:1.

Like I mentioned earlier I dont know if they are indeed wrong as i never installed just the topout or just the preload, (ask on this forum to see if anyone has). Therefore I can only say the 2:1 ratio is the overall ratio of top and preload combined and dont know if it is possible that the top can be 1:1 and the preload 4:1??? If that makes any sense.
 
A top out always had doubled the lift. Check out GIG's truck. He put a 1/2" spacer that got him a 1" front lift. That has pretty much been the norm.

That is pretty much the page that I am on too...you would think DS would know their own product. :bash:
