Think of it like this: The suspension can go up & down 'X' amount based on top-out and bottom-out, mechanical, limits of travel. (To change the limits you have change shocks and do other stuff.) You can do almost anything with springs and the 'X' doesn't change much*. (This includes spacing the springs or even changing them.) What you do change is the allocation, how much of that travel is available for compression and how much is available for extension.
Now if the question is based on a level road at 20 mph and going over a slight jump then you're correct, almost. The compression travel will be increased slightly as the vehicle is starting out with more compression travel available (ie sitting higher).
*-Installation of a top-spacer on the front suspension does increase the 'droop' that's available a little bit.

Here are the conclusions I draw:
AS FAR AS SUSPENSION ARTICULATION IS CONCERNED... Below is about true right-to-left articulation. Articulation being a combo of 'travel' and the vehicles inherent right to left connection. The answer below is about running one wheel up on a big rock. You can extrapolate answers about travel knowing that's angle I was approaching it from. I was a little unsure of what you were asking, sorry...
Front: LESS downward travel, equal amount of upward travel With stock shocks and any top-spacer it will extend downward slightly further. Upward travel will be the same (the bumpstop on the LCA is the limiting factor still) BUT the articulation may be slightly less due to the extra preload on the spring as it compresses. As the compressing gets near the stop the spring will stiffen more resisting the last bit of compression. This in conjunction with the front swaybar will likely lift the other side rather than flex to full potential.
Rear: LESS downward travel, equal upward travel Assuming stock length shocks it depends... What it comes down to is will the vehicle bottom out on the compressing side or lift the opposite wheel first? The higher preload on the spring makes the rear stiffer as it compresses and more likely to lift the other side rather than compress to the stop.
BUT it is REALLY the same articulation as without a lift because you start with more ground clearance. Close enoughThe gain in clearance will more than offset a minuscule loss of articulation with a 2.5/1.5. Just do it.
