Daytime Running Light (DRL) bulb hesitates at vehicle start-up

The driver's side DRL bulb does not come on when I start the 4Runner but only comes on after five seconds or so.

Once the vehicle is operating, the bulb stays on and comes on immediately on repeated starts.

The passenger side bulb operates just fine.

I did a thorough search and could not find this cause/problem mentioned anywhere.

Could it be a bulb... 'on its way out'?

Anything else like a bad socket, loose connection, bad relay...? Don't think it's any of these as once the bulb takes time to warm up... it operates fine.

I'm a little stumped!

BTW, changing this bulb... getting to the bulb socket around the battery... tight fit for medium large hands!

If I have to change it, are you folks going in from underneath with a long reach?

For a no cost elimination, switch the bulbs with each other. No easy way to get to, move the battery, I can barely get mine in the w/out moving it, but, done it a few times so not so hard now.
