Daytonaviolet's build thread

How's the Kings riding? I would have gone that route if I wasn't in the snow belt. In hindsight wished I knew of Elka before I leveled! They are prepped for winter

actually there’s a few guys here from the e46fanatics and m3forum days. The cars may have changed but the game is still the same :-)

Plus we’re all married with kids now .. lol

Haha that’s crazy. Small world.

I still have my e46, but replaced it as my daily with the TRDP I picked up in February last year. It’s fun to have the 330 as a weekend toy now.

Nice to see a familiar face...errr...username

daytonaviolet - Awesome build and garage/ workshop! Wish I had epoxied my floor, but settled for a lift instead. With your inspiration I have started the TRD front/ rear bumper part collection (actually with the wife's approval). Thank you for your spreadsheet as well.

I’m glad I was able to help you spend more of your money :-)

I wish I had room for a real lift.

Looked all over for something like these last year and just got the Toyota Fortuner door handle covers in gloss black from eBay. They don’t cover the chrome completely 100%. I think I’ll get these. Any discount codes? Lol

I wish I had meso discount codes :-)

it rides really firm, solid and vey planted. Seems I can go over speed bumps faster the suspension absorbs more of the road. I yet to take it out on trails. Hopefully soon.

What did you do with your TRD Bilstein suspension with Cornfed spacers?

The Kings feel better?

Glad to hear you still have your e46. I sold mine shortly after getting the X5m. I really wanted to keep it but only had room for two cars in the garage. So I opted to sell it rather then park it outside. This picture was taken same day I sold her :-(

What was your name on the bmw forums ?

That’s great that your door handle covers worked. They didn’t fit on my 2018 properly, too big in a few critical areas and could not close the handle. I had to send them back.

I had similar experience as well. But after re-seating and toggling the handles a few times, it now works smoothly.

For now i placed the trd Bilsteins in the king boxes. I plan to sell them with the CF spacers.

The kings ride really nice. It’s a great transition from trd Bilsteins. Overall it’s firm and feels really solid. Well worth the extra money.

Ok cool. Good to know. I have the same TRD suspension set up as you with the CF spacers as we talked about before.

Once my suspension goes out I’ll probably upgrade to either to the KINGs like yours or the Bilstein 8112/8100. They cost more than the Kings so I’m not sure if paying the extra $ is worth it. I’ll have to do more researching.

I really want to put a nice setup on the wife’s ORP, just have no personal experience with the Kings. Those Bilsteins are tempting at sub$4k if that’s possible.

Btw ,I still have the e46 M in my garage as well, parked next to the Technoviolet e36, neither of which I’ve driven since the pandemic began. The CSL intake sounds will be difficult to part ways with

it will be a long while until those trd bilsteins go out, unless your riding them hard daily. the bilstein 8112/8100 is like $1K each. that's 40% more then my kings. but they do look nice :humble:

I knew you must have been an E36 guy at some point. I actually just decided to pull the techno out for a quick run to Whole Foods and was just laughing about how squeaky that interior is, more creaks than my FJ with close to 200k.

My e46 is a TiAg (actually love it on the e46) with manual cloth and a pretty solid street setup. CSL intake, SuperSprint sec1/2, 4.10, V3’s and some black barreled LM’s for my bling

I just need to get a ride/drive in a King equipped vehicle. Could you fill me in on how they’re 40% less than the Bils? I’ve priced them out at 3kish

Any issues installing or any fitment issues? Figured I'd ask before I attempt to install mine

Mine initially had fitment issues which did not allow the handle to open/close every time I hit the button. But after re-seating and toggle about a dozen times.. seems to work okay.

Sounds like a nice e46. I bet that csl intake screams at WOT.. I miss that.

If your in the Bay Area, I’ll give you a ride. The kings are roughly $2500 (non adjusters) and the Bilsteins 8 series is $4k
