DDM Light Socket Burnt Out

I did a projector mod using DDM parts back in September and noticed some weirdness that I planned call them about until I lost my driver side headlamp on Friday night. Now I have a warranty claim.

Pulled it and noticed the socket inside the harness (connector) and the bulb socket were completely burnt out! Pic of socket and bulb attached.

The bulb itself looks fine, not burnt out - what a strange failure. Hopefully DDM stands behind that lifetime warranty, that's the reason I used their parts.

Weird behavior noticed prior to failure
-bright indicator on the dash hasn't lit up since the install (called them back in Sept, they didn't believe me)
-flashing high beams makes a weird clicking sound on driver side (solenoid?)
-flashing high beams with fog lights on and high beams don't disengage (have to turn fogs off)

Last time I had a bulb go out on one of their kits, they emailed me back and said they would replace my part at no charge. I would just have to pay for the parts to be shipped, to them and then the new part back to me. I could also pay for a "upgraded" bulb set for 15$ and pay for shipping. Last offer was to pay for the parts and shipping and when they get the broken parts back to them, they would refund me the recent purchase.

Couldn't wait for warranty replacement from DDM so I purchased a set of pair of bulb harnesses and 5K DS2 bulbs from Amazon over the weekend

Installed them today and now I have both headlights again.

Next up, DDM warranty support. Let's see how that goes.

DDM warranty support was poor at best. It seems they primarily use this as an opportunity to upsell you to a higher level product, and their responsiveness was terrible - I was waiting days for them to reply.

I wrote them a scathing email discrediting their warranty process and all of a sudden they were helpful and gave me an RMA for to send the defective parts back.

What I realized must have happened was bulb/connector junction was not sealed and water must have gotten in and shorted it out. I went to the plumbing department of the local OSH and picked up a 10 pack of washers that I test-fit to a bulb in the store, both in diameter and thickness.

I installed a washer on each bulb and tightened the connector back on and have been driving for over a year without issue.

Maybe the DDM kit had bulb washers and I overlooked them, but there was nothing in the instructions about this potential issue or the need to insulate, but it makes sense.

At least now I have spare parts and the knowledge of why the issue occurred.
Just wanted to give closure here.

INSULATE YOUR CONNECTOR TO BULB CONNECTIONS

I had an HID ballast burn out on me directly from DDM tuning on my 90 toyota 4x4. They were really good about next day shipping me one. Is their projector kit worth the money?

I would say yes, and if I had it to do again I'd would go for the better ballasts.

Since adding a washer between the connector and bulb I've had zero problems
