DDM Tuning Saber LED for DRL / High

You don't have high beams on the 2nd pic do you? Why is the led so high? It's lighting up the tree vs. The hid where it actually uses cutoff of projectors.

What? The LED bulbs are only in the high beam only from what I can tell. So that would explain why it's up in the trees.

High Beams are not projectors, light path is the same as you standard incandescent bulbs you have now.

Maybe it's just me but seems the led's put more focus down middle? The sides are much dimmer compared to the hid's as well. I've done a few retro in my time and love my hid. Only in projector setups of course. But I love how wide the light can spread out. Hopefully as evenly as I'd like.

Again, only the lows are projectors. These are just LED bulbs in place of the standard incandescent bulb. Light path is determined by the reflector in the housing and not altered with bulb swap.

Maybe i should post what 2014 5Th Gen headlights look like?

Maybe these are better, a tad darker...

I wish i had some picture of the factory stock incandescent high beams for comparison... They are poor to say the least... I'm sure after a few more folks try these it will become more clear just how bright these are for high beam function. As I've said before they out run my 36" dual row LED bar.... And these Saber's only have 4.... FOUR LEDs total.

LED Technology is changing at a fast pace...

Well that decides it. I've been going back and forth on whether or not to try out LEDs in my drl/highs but i think im sold. Will wait to see Saker's post to see if I should disable DRLs with these though.

Have you guys seen the newer Acura's and even domestic Caddy's with led headlights?

They are running the headlights as DRL, I'd venture these are the same intensity...

And or, if concerned can't you just turn off the DRL on the column switch? Perhaps older 5th gens don't have that?

My DRL's are disabled and currently have Philips 9011's in my high beams which are 2530 lumens ea. & have the yellow hue.
These Saber LED's are 3000lm and white.
Hopefully, with these being 6000 kelvin, there should be a noticeable difference in my setup.
If the design and performance is a step above my current setup, I can justify paying the higher price for these.

That being said, and if that is the case, someone with the OEM 9005's in the high beam halogen reflectors, these would be a great upgrade in lighting!

I can just turn off DRL on the stalk and don't have auto lights, but I get more use out of my DRLs than I do my high beams. I'd hate to give up a safety feature for very infrequently used lighting. (Your use cases may vary.)

Copy that.

I have found that the low voltage to the high beam bulb while using the DRL, makes the bulb carbon up.
I don't have auto lights either, but to use running lights, the DRL's have to be active unless the DRL mod is done.
Plus, I use my running lights (parking lights) during the day for my safety feature.
I respect everyone's decision to use features as preferred.

I like the mod of the DRL LED light strip in the fog light vent louver, but I might lose that for a plate bumper. Otherwise that would be a great solution to keep a reasonable DRL but get a face-melting high beam.

You have allot more cred on this site then I do, I left all my cred behind over on ih8mud.com when I left the world of 37's and double bead locks...

That said I'm confident you will be impressed with the color temperature and penetration these two LED's provide...

I'm not in the LED industry by trade, but could be considered associated with various applications and products used for Search and Rescue. I've come to learn a few things over time, working with LED's when lighting really matters and is not just for show.

That said once you chime in with your impressions I'm sure others will follow.

I'm sure to some they will be "too bright" for DRL, but as I said before the high beam is paint melting bright.

Not trying to thread jack. But I just spoke to retrofit source today and they are releasing a morimoto version that can handle two pulse voltage for theirs as well. It should be releasing in next couple weeks. Im going to wait to see their version as I like morimoto brand more than ddm tuning.

No info on led but they said it will be around the xb led price point which is around 120ish? I didn't ask specifics on wattage or draw.
