Honestly, I've noticed my Saber Pro 40w getting pretty hot. I've stopped worrying about it, maybe I'll check them again tomorrow after a drive. It's been about a month since I installed them and I haven't had any issues.

are they super bright in DRL mode or do they tone down?

I have them, yes they tone down, but there is a considerably noticeable amount of flickering when in DRL.

So after browsing through this thread. The census is the you will want to order with the LED decoder to prevent this hyper flickering?
No because all that does is make it so your high beams are on all the time which would be super annoying to oncoming traffic. I just live with the flicker. Not ideal, but better than having high beams on 24/7.

Im not running that with mine. You saw the flicker in person, and if you didn't......well then there you have it.

Not too sure about that. I have them and my high beams aren't on all the time. I still have full control over my high beams with my 40W with LED Decoder.
I also noticed a flicker when I was looking at them but I drove in front of my rig for the first time last week and saw zero flicker. It's only when you get super close to them and REALLY look for it do you see it.

I got a pair on the holidays sale and they came today [emoji3]
Install was super easy. I had to tighten the inner bezzel on one light. I reset the set screw on both units to the top location. Both lights are set to the LEDs pointing side to side. I used the preinstalled thin o-ring. I loosened the three phillips head screws securing the bulb socket ring. After installing the bulb I used a stubby screwdriver to retighten all three screws.
They are amazing. Yes there is a little flickering but I don't care. When the brights are on it's INSANE how bright they are and it was daylight with full sun. I can't wait to they them at night.

I've had my Saber LED DRL/high beam bulbs in for a year now. I LOVE the high beams at night. My only issue is with the DRLs, as I feel like I'm annoying people when behind them in traffic. I see people in front of me blocking their mirrors with their hands, or flipping the lever on the rear view mirror. I don't know if it's the flicker or the brightness, but I'd prefer to stop annoying the other drivers. But the high beams are still AMAZING, as far as I'm concerned.

Did you go with Saber Pro 40w or 50w? Saber told me the 50w would be just fine and not too hot due to the size of the 4runner light housing or something along those lines.
it's both... ive noticed this too. people driving cheaper economy cars without auto dimming mirrors seem to find it very unpleasant

When I got mine from DDM there was only one option. That was the Pro40w. I let the LEDs run for a little while and I never noticed anything getting overly hot. I was able to touch all the wires with no issues.
I will say they are bright as H E double hockey sticks. Last night I came up on a car driving 25 in a 40. As I got closer they didn't move over. Hit the highs and even I thought ... oh damn. They sped up right away.
During the day I feel I'm way more visible. The brightness is similar to high-end cars with LED strip running lights.
I'm soooooooo happy I put them in.
I'm also looking at adding them to the fogs. Does anyone have experience with them in fogs and/or putting a yellow film on the fogs?

OMG .... I may have to put my 40w in my GF's 4Runner and order the 50w for myself :decision: I can't see how there would be any backlash.
I really wish they would make these a 4300k and 2700k color option. I would love to try these in my low beam projectors. I just can't run 6000k as a headlight. The color temperature just doesn't work in the bad weather here in CO.

I'm just going to leave this here from my build thread. The construction is really top notch.
Swapped out my DDM 40W Saber LED DRLs for the XenonDepot 9005 Xtreme LED Pro DRLs and love them!
After a few months of running the DDM I was content with the output even though it was a little much. One day I pulled up to the garage and noticed one wasn't aligned correctly and upon inspection found the screw had become stripped from the grommet. I have dealt with DDM issues far too long to deal with this again so I decided to check out the XenonDepot kit and really wish I went with this the first time. The color is awesome and there is almost no flicker - much less than DDM and only visible by trying to look for it.
