De badging Poll

I am wondering if I am the only person that hates those chunky Letters (V8, Toyota, Limited or Sport, 4WD) Personally I feel those letters make it very difficult to wax and clean the vehicle. I also think chunky letters detract from the appearance of the vehicle. I know I have 4WD and a V8 because I paid extra money for them. Plastering that on the vehicle seems silly.

I debadged my truck the day after I bought it new. The letters came off very easy and the only one I kept was the "V8" emblem in the grill.

I think it looks awesome.....

I agree with everything that you said. I took mine off very soon after I got my 05. I think it gives a "cleaner" look. I just left the V8 emblem in the grille.

Yeah the words
4WD SPORT EDITION down the side is a bit much,
I think SR5 or LIMITED looks beter due to the fact that it is shorter of a word...
I have often thought about doing it.
Just out of curiosity what is the process/method of taking the letters off?

You heat up the letters with a blow dryer, and work fishing line behind it to break the adhesive bond. Then you have to purchase a adhesive remover to get the left over goop off the vehicle.
Or like me, you simply tell the dealer you want it all removed before you take delivery.

nice and clean look. they don't have to know if im driving a 4wd or not. at least they could tell its sports because of the hood, the tube steps and racks.

cleaner look.. easier to wax!! I'm surprised 4wd sport edition has not been shortened to SE.

You can use dental floss to remove the badges as well after you heat them up.

It hink debadged always looks good, but especially on dark cars, like black and gray. It seems to make a more noticeable difference. (but i might be slightly biased) nonetheless, debadging is where its at! Cleaner, sharper for sure. im glad i did it.

I find the results of this poll to be very interesting. It received a total of 58 votes. Eliminating the I don't care answers because they really don't matter. Looks like about 50% want the chunky letters and 50% don't.
I really thought only a very small number of people would have wanted the chunky letters, which explains why all the auto manufactures put that crap on their cars.
This poll I thought would have had a large number of people at least vote. I learned that this forum has 10,000 members, but less then 100 really post or contribute. Yet with only about 100 members this forum is a wealth of information.

I was on this board before I picked up the 4R & I was debating back & forth in debadging.

However, when I picked it up & stared at it for endless hours...I decided to just leave it.

I'll probably tint the front (2) windows to match the rears.

And get painted side mirrors w/ light blue mirror like the M3 & have the turn signal on the outside painted area of the mirror.

Gotta look into it & want a clean one, so it appears like nothing has been done.
