Ok so I haven't driven my car for 2 months and when I went to start it up the battery died. I pull tried to jump the battery with my V6 van and try to start up the 4runner but its really weak. It only goes up to 2k RPM and dies soon after that. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I had a similar problem earlier this summer. Every time I wanted to drive my truck i had to get it jumped. Most likely you have a dead battery. Once I swapped my battery out, it started up just fine!

Good Luck!!

Ok I just put in a brand new battery and the car started up just fine. There's still a problem though. The RPM will NOT go past 2k. I have no idea what is going on here.

People have occasionally mentioned this issue but never posted what the corrective action was...:bash:

Try pulling the EFI fuse for 5-10minutes or so. When you attempt to restart it DO NOT touch the gas pedal, just the key.

Sorry for asking so much questions. :sobbing: Where is the EFI fuse located? (no idea what EFI stands for or where it is)

Do you know why this happens? I thought this would be a simple jump and problem fixxed but nope. Its much more complicated. :bash:

My dad had my 4runner towed to a mechanic place before I could do anything. They told me the alternator is dead so now I'm just waiting to see what happens.

Thanks for this 1st update. You'll be the first to follow through with the cause of the problem:frog:

Sorry to disappoint but apparently the problem is nothing more than rats chewing up the wires and whatnot according to the mechanic. He had to rewire the wires and change the alternator. With more complications, my aftermarket cd player doesnt power up anymore. Now it makes a drilling noise that sounds like youre at the dentist. The power side mirrors make a funny sound when you adjust it. I called the mechanic up and told him of this problem and he said to bring the car back in. So I'm going to bring it back in tomorrow and see what he can do.

It really seems weird to me that rats is the cause of this problem. I doubt it at first but then I remembered rats getting into my back house and chewing up all my supplies in the past. So the story is believable. My dad also know the mechanic guy's parents so I dont think he would try to scam me.
