Like he states it should be around 14 to 14.6v when vehicle is running. If you get another free one its going to slowly fail again most likely. But they are hit and miss. You sometimes get lucky and one that may last a few years but believe me it wont last 240k miles and 18 years like mine is doing now.

1st alt from PO lasted 3yrs. That's until I took it's in the mountain and drove it's in Surprise Lake in WA.

2nd alt lasted 1.5 months. Seems like these alts don't like water. I keep on changing them until each 1 goes dead.

3rd alt which I installed today hopefully works longer. Time will tell. I don't mind changing the alts. Not hard to do and quite fast, time wise.

I was expecting a story about Duck Hunting, or something along those lines..

You will mind it when your out somewhere, far away, on a trail or out of cell service. You dont want inferior parts on your truck that you have to keep replacing.

Very true! I got a solution, my wife came home last night with a new Genuine Toyota alt. She said good to have when your out of reach some where over the rainbow! Lol
