Dead bugs

Do they make a product that will make it so the dead bugs on my front bumper are not so $%^* hard to clean off? Is it a dealer item or can i buy it myself? Any ideas?

There is a product called WD-40 that works pretty well on bugs. Also, Pep Boys used to sell something simply known as "Bug & Tar Remover" that does the trick. However, after using either one of them, I think you should re-wax that section.

I think bugs have been a problem since the invention of the automobile.

Use a nylon web covered sponge and car wash detergent. Scrubs them off very easily. Then wax the front end. I end up doing this about once a month or so. The front always gets dirty faster.

I've always found if you keep up with your waxing, bugs come off pretty easily with just water and soap.

Ah, this thread is another reason to love the cladding! Bugs come right off!

For the painted sections, Toolman John and a3passata6 are right -- keeping the front waxed certainly helps. I've driven up the Mississippi River along I-55 in the spring and summer, and was glad to have had a good coat of Zaino's on there. They came right off the hood.

Absolutely -- you can't imagine the difference the clay bar makes until you try it. Worked wonders on the Camry and it is keeping the 4Runner looking like new.

Bucket of hot soapy water.

Wash it on the front...let it soak a few minutes while I do the hood and windshield...come back with a scrubbrush and scrub it off.

What kind of brush do you use? I'd be afraid that I'd scratch the hood.

I've been using Rain-X Bug Remover washer fluid in the washer tank. Also been putting some on the front end. Not as many bugs are accumulating it seems, and they come off more easily.

Most of you guys are way too hard on the paint with these harsh chemicals and abrasive methods. Here is what I do to remove bugs from my helmet faceshield, motorcycles, and the front of the 4Runner. Go to any Honda motorcycle dealer and get Honda Bright. It is a cleaner and polish that won't ever hurt any paint or plastic. Spray it on and let it set a few minutes. The bugs will soften up and come right off. This stuff sprays on thick and stays put. I spray it on then drive to the car wash. Once there, the bugs blast right off.

Honda Bright is cheap too. Big can for less than $5 and small travel cans for less than $3. Keep a small can in the glove box.
