Dealer/Port Installed USB Ports Driving Me Crazy

The dealer or port installed the USB ports shown to the right of the factory one in the picture below. Problem is that it does not dim with the rotary dimmer and the led lighting in it is like a spotlight at night. Anyone removed or replaced the darn thing with something a little less annoying?

There's a cigarette lighter there by default, replace it with that.

If the dealer installed that take it back and have them put it back to stock, that is in place of your factory 12 volt outlet.

Yeah. Didn’t really care about it when I purchased the car but drove for about 20 min on a dark road the other evening and it was super annoying.

there is probably a jumper wire you can remove to turn off the light or add a resistor to dim, just remove it and take a look

I wouldn't be too happy with dealer installed electrical mods. that sucks.


somewhat related, I use things called "lightdims" all over my home theater. They are little semi-opaque stickers that you can tone down obnoxious LEDs with, and they're practically invisible when they are applied correctly.

There is nothing worse than a super-duper bright LED on the front of an otherwise beautiful tube amplifier.

Are you sure it's not just pushed into the OEM power plug? It kinda looks like it. Some of them sit really flush

Yeah, I just double checked and it is definitely not plugged into the 12v socket. Any idea how to remove that panel? Whole dash have to come off?
