Dealer synthetic change

Anybody have the dealer do a synthetic oilchange lately? Was wondering how much it cost. Been using conventional oil and changing every six months or so for years. The kicker is, it mostly sees less than 3k miles in six months. Was thinking a full synthetic may be a better option and change once a year. Opinions?

Dealership in Las Vegas NV was gonna charge me $69 for synthetic oil change. Told them no thanks, installed a Fumoto valve instead. Now super easy, quick and clean oil changes at home for me. Standard no lift suspension, I can scoot under the 4Runner without jacking it up, attach a short hose to the Fumoto and flip the valve. Oil drains into a container. Saves me $$ every 6 months.

Not sure if you're doing it on your own currently but no reason not too. Synthetic oil costs only a few dollars more and having a dealer do a synthetic change for 20+ more dollars then conventional is absurd. Maybe you could buy the oil you want to use before and bring it to the dealer? Never understood why dealers and oil change places charge so much more for synthetic oil changes when the oil itself is so similar in price and the same to change.

I buy Mobile 1 synthetic from Walmart and Toyota oil filters off Amazon and bring them to my local shop which I give $20 to change it.

Never understood why dealers and oil change places charge so much more for synthetic oil changes when the oil itself is so similar in price and the same to change.

I'm guessing most people think synthetic is expensive and feel like they're getting a deal to "only" pay $40 extra for an oil change

I wasnt changing on my own because I was on their extended warranty and wanted the service to be in their system instead of me keeping receipts for the oil and filter. Was cheap too. $19.99 4 years ago. $40 with rotation now. Looks pretty simple to do too with my 5100s.

I've done that before on other cars too. Not the worst idea.
Call me crazy, but it may be worth $60 to me to let them put synthetic in it, rotate the tires, grease it and the free state inspection. It would only be once a year and I'm done till a year later.

I don't see anything wrong with that. You don't have to get dirty, don't have to get the oil and filter and you don't have to take the oil to get recycled. $60 a year sounds like a win to me.
