How do dealerships get their cars soo impeccably clean? I'm currently looking for a new vehicle (will likely go 4Runner again) and am impressed at how spotless they are on the lot. I've had my cars detailed at a few random places over the years and although they do good jobs they never get them as clean as I see them at dealerships. Everything is completely spotless. From interior, to exterior, under the hood, under the body, etc. Once driven off the lot the vehicle doesn't normally ever get back to that condition even with upkeep. I normally wash/clean every few weeks and detail once a year.

They are professionals, and they probably use a deionized water system to prevent spotting.

Dealers have people who specialize in that, and they do do a heck of a job.
They have stuff to spray on the hoses and belts to make them look new. Whatever they put on the windshields is way better than Rainx.

One thing the less-than-pros do is steam clean the headliner. That breaks down the adhesive that holds it on, a shortly thereafter it starts sagging.

all the stealerships in my part of the world pay some highschool kid min wage to wash them 20 times a week.... I swear every time I drive by that wash truck is going down the rows...

Keepin mind they have designated test drive vehicles and demo's so not every vehicle on the lot is seeing use therefore making it easier to maintain when the only debris and dirt to clean is from the air and rain. I would not let them detail my vehicle. Simple example: my paint has many swirls/scratches from them using brushes to remove snow in the winter. Not a huge deal but further confirms my point.

Thats what I did in high school for the Saturn dealership locally.

Dealership wash is impeccable? Are you kidding? My 2013 Trail was "washed & detailed" when I bought it. Roof was still dirty, wheels were left untouched and door jams were not wiped clean. When I go for service, I tell them No Wash, please. Pitiful.

The ones around here run it through a car wash.

Truck looks like crap before and after since the brushes just move the dirt around.

Thanks for the info guys. I've learned one thing: it's subjective. The dealership I bought my 2007 Sport from was insanely clean. I could probably find a speck of dust if I had a magnifying glass but that's it. They were in the Dallas area though which is known for extreme competition between auto lots so I'm wondering if that might have had something to do with it.
