I think we'll be fine. I imagine the paved roads are hit the hardest, become damaged and undrivable for passenger vehicles then are marked as closed.

BADWATER Partially OPEN!!!

Sunday, November 1, 2015 Updates

We will list all closed areas. Everything else is OPEN.

Badwater Rd - Open from CA 190 to Badwater Basin. CLOSED from Badwater Basin to Jubilee Pass/178/127 intersection near Shoshone.

Artist's Drive - Closed.

Natural Bridge - Closed.

Devil's Golf Course - Closed.

West Side Road - Closed.

Big Pine Road/Death ValleyRd. - Open from Big Pine to South Eureka Valley Rd. Eureka Dunes are OPEN. Big Pine Rd/Death Valley Rd from South Eureka Valley Rd. to Ubehebe Rd. is Closed.

Cottonwood Rd. - Open first 8 miles, high clearance. Closed beyond.

Hole in the Wall - Closed.

Greenwater Valley Rd/Furnace Creek Wash Rd. - Open from Dante's View Rd to the intersection of 178/Badwater Rd/Jubilee Pass Rd. No exit southbound.

Lower Wildrose Rd. - Closed between Wildrose Campground and Panamint Valley. Access to the area is necessary via Emigrant Canyon Rd.

Mustard Canyon Rd. - Closed.

Salt Creek Rd. - Closed.

Racetrack Rd. - Closed.

Saline Valley North Pass - Closed. South Pass is Open in great shape.

Saratoga Springs Rd. - Impassable. Thick quicksand/mud. Jeeps getting stuck.

Scotty's Castle Rd. - Open to Titus Canyon. Closed beyond going north.

20 Mule Team - Closed.

Ubehebe Crater Rd. - Closed.

The park is receiving help from around the country from regional offices, Sequoia National Park, Mojave National Preserve, Yosemite National Park, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, and Joshua Tree National Park.

The rest of your park is open, but expect flood damage especially in the backcountry. We have no estimates as to when roads will open. Please check back daily for potential updates.

This is what N2Deep (Craig) group organizer for this run posted,in next paragraph. he also wants me to give you his email and phone number so you can have contact with him and ask anything you want from him. Way cool friend of mine great guy so don't worry about hitting him up about anything he likes your info so far. He will also send you all the updates he is doing right now to you once you make contact with him. I will PM you his info.

Only problem is if the road is marked closed or the 2wd can get thru we need a backup plan since we will have 2 meeting up with us Friday night. They may not have warm springs road open on the other side. Might have to go scout it out a day earlier - or change the route. Those pics were taken the day of the floods so in a months time a lot can change.
Hwy 178 and west side road still listed as closed - which is where Warm Springs dumps out.
Also looks like the road to Goler wash is still closed.

Thanks for the info. I signed up for TundraTalk and i still can't post. Waiting for someone to approve my intro comment in the noob section at this time.

I'm surprised that 2wd are even going on this trip. Are you 2wd?

It's going to be rough out there with all the mud and muck.

As a backup plan I'd think the 2wd would just use the main roads to circle back with the group. If we need to split up I can lead the other group no problem. I'm looking forward to those trails.

The two meeting Friday night .... I'm wondering if he is referring to me. I'm definitely not joining Friday night. I'll be camping near Rhyolite then meeting you guys the next day at a specific time and place.

Hell yeah I'm 2wd and I've been everywhere in it and have survived and made it. I've only been stuck twice once Ocotillo Wells at devils slide that's only because I stopped at the top with everyone else. I have driven all over that place and do all the same shit as others multiple times. Second time was on our Mojave run we played in the Dumont Dunes and once again stopped at the top with others to shoot the shit and got stuck ...just a quick yank and on my way.
Soft sand and stopping ...is my weakness thus far. Everything else that I have done by myself and with others I have conquered the trails, obstacles, hills right along with them. Some have have taken a couple tries and lines to make it happen but I do and has never been with the help of a winch either.
Why do you think these guys let me run with them , cause I run the shit out of my rig and never say never. If I see there is no way I will make it at some point out in DV on a trail I will turn back and go around and meet up.
But yes I know I will meet my match in DV most likely and find out what her limits are. I obviously know what she can't do when I see it.
And yes I am getting a locker I have been ordering evrything slowly that I need, I thought I was gonna make it happen for the trip but there's no way as of now.

he had also text me the samething I told him if you could'nt find us or get ahold of us cause you will be getting in late and cell service sucks that you would just stay in Rhyolite and meet in the am there.
Tha's when he wanted to make sure all contact info for you was given cause he wanted you to be where we are at, have everyone together. He wheeels around in the middle of the night and also the others and couple of times like yourself cant make it out to meet us until late and will show up at 1am at camp. So for him he would rather do whatever he/it takes for you to find us or us find you.

I'm glad he clarified Warm Spring Canyon vs. Warm Springs (hot spring).

Well I've gotta 10 person inflatable raft I use for the river regatta float in laughlin,and in AZ. We can all jump on that and with all of our onboard air we can have up in mins of flash flood warning, lol. Good o'l El Nino don't they say this every single year and we haven't seen s***!!

Looks like I should be able to make this one. I just need to figure out some logistical stuff. I'll be leaving Friday evening but it's a 4.5 hour drive so I may not roll into camp until about 10pm. I'll hit up the tundra talk forums tomorrow.

You meant you are gonna have someone video and take photos and even watch it live through FaceTime of your daughters concert since you will be out of town for run with the boys, awesome I thought for a moment you weren't gonna make it...what was I thinking?

What Dad would miss out on a Fun DV Run, just for their daughters concert...only the most Shitty Father of Year.

No worries completely understandable being a father of a daughter myself.
She wouldn't be Dad's lil girl after that. Lol
I will definitely keep you in the loop and let me know as well if you got anything goin on I will head that way no problem to make a run with you brotha.

Bro, that's funny. I love it :D Will let you know if any runs come up in Nor Cal. I actually don't see allot of them. It seems you guys in So Cal do more runs then us Nor Cal guys.

If I was going, I would be! Instead I'll be spending Thanksgiving week visiting friends and family in Santa Cruz and Pacifica.
 
Excited?....very. I'm just cutting my prep time down to the wire. I'm gonna try to throw on some ditch lights tomorrow since I'm probably going to be driving to a remote camp site late at night in a area with no cell coverage.
