Death Valley Run Nov 20-23 & 24 (bonus day)

Excited...I'm Amped!! I am on serious crunch time as well..
Just got down rebuilding my LCA's, new Inner and Outer tie rods, adjusted my suspension and picked up a new matching rim/tire as my spare and mounted up on rack.

Things for today Wednesday
1. Alignment asap
2.Install Spartan Locker

Thursday
Then get everything all loaded up packed and racked and a final once over...

Friday
The fun begins...

I'm still about 4 hours out (Fn LA traffic) I'm sure Craig will text everyone the new location when they have it. It might be a long day for them pulling the 2wd trucks though the trail.
 
We are headed to Emigrant camp near Stovepipe unless I hear of something new.

Or maybe we'll go to the original destination. I'm kind of curious if I can get there.

I'm probably going to be out of cell signal by 9:30pm.

This is the the last I heard from tundra talk

"Plan right now it to hit Goler wash to Butte Valley on Friday and then backtrack out the way we came in. Find a spot either near Ballarat Ghost town or if we have time travel up to Rhyolite Ghost town and camp near there. Saturday morning head into Beatty and gas/meet up at Stagecoach Casino/DV Nut and Candy company around 10-11am. Run Titus Canyon and head to Stovepipe wells. Depending on time the kids can go play on the sand dunes or we can head up Cottonwood Rd to Cottonwood/Marble Canyon to setup camp. Those that want to play can head up Cottonwood canyon as I hear it is washed out"



So I'm heading towards Ballarat right now. If I don't hear anything by 9:30 I'll continue towards rhyolite

It seems that plans changed and now the only run Saturday is Titus Canyon starting at noon. They are meeting at Candy company at 11 so noon trail head is a good assumption.

I don't know that this will work for me. We (me and buddy with a Tacoma) may hit our own route and join up with group for camp in the evening.

I'd like to start at 9am and see where we can go. I've got several trails in mind that together would fill up the day.

Anyone is welcome to join. I'd like to get a solid day of wheeling in.

Still no word from the rest of the group...if you still have reception, where are you camping. I sent you a text earlier, but I'm guessing you already entered the cell service black hole

Hey Brian, I'd be down for a whole day thing too. We couldn't get a hold of anyone all day yesterday and ended up camping at an RV park in Beatty.

This whole thing has been a cluster, my buddy and i may just explore and do our own thing if we don't hear from the main group.

Brian and I are heading to ryalite right now
 
We met at Rhyolite at 10am then headed to do Phinney Canyon.

Just finished Phinney. Now (14:15) headed to Titus. Should start Titus @ 14:30.

We may camp near Titus if we don't find the bigger group.

We have a group of 4 trucks.
 
We must made it out of the canyon at 2:30am.

Cottenwood Canyon - WTF I hope to never meet you again.

Rescue services were quoted at $2,000 then they called back and said no they won't do it.

Rented a Uhaul dolly.$150. Only downside was we couldn't pick it up until 1:30pm in Tonahoe.

It took al long long time but we made it out with the Tacoma and Dolly pulling the 4Runner in the dark.

What exactly happened that made you have to stop and check then jack the vehicle up and determine it needed to be towed out?

I seen you guys across the street from general store I waved to you guys in robs truck as I was airing up in parking lot and you just took off, I waited drove around to see where you went but with no luck and myself not having cell service didnt help. It bothered me all the way home not knowing and I could have possibly helped you.
I carry alot of shit with me the average person doesnt you would be suprised.
Being that I was the next one out 45 mins after you and coming across your rig trippin out I stopped checked out your rig and looked around for you then figured I would catch up to you and rob.

I'm trying to picture what could have been so bad that we couldnt have rigged something up atleast to get you out and save all that trouble you went through.

Man I'm so sorry about that happening and everything else bro I feel horrible. Glad your safe, If there's anything I can do to help or fix your rig I will no problem
I know how to do all that shit to save you cash.
Let me know man I will be there at moments notice
 
The upper ball joint separaed from the long piece of metal it connects to. The piece the UBJ sits in broke apart. It looks like ring that came apart.

The truck was not drivable. The drivers wheel was seized up even when lifted off the ground. No way to do a temp fix.

If I could do it again we'd just camp near the entrance of the canyon not the back which was hell to get out of.
 
I am not really clear what happened (I was not on the trip) but to leave your friend(s) "hang dry" during the problem was not cool. The cardinal rule has been broken.

WE are glad that you are got out safely.
 
To clarify, no one left me.

By the time the others saw my truck Rob and I had driven away (in search of a trailer) with a note left on the truck.

We were the first to leave camp at 7:45 and I broke down about 5 mins later down the canyon.
