When was that photo taken? I don’t remember that many stacked rocks there (I haven’t been over Mengel Pass in a few years). That looks too easy now!

That was taken in Dec 2019!
The trail has definitely gotten easier but still pretty fun!

Dont you worry! Not much difficult/technical stuff in Death Valley. It'll be fun and relatively calm/safe.

Death Valley is still accessible. smoke isn't too bad around the area but id wait to travel as itd be nice to do death valley plus some of the eastern sierra.
