Debadging affect resale value

Folks, I like the look of debadging, but I'm wondering what the impact of this is on the value of the vehicle when it's time for it to go.

Is there a trade in impact?

Is there a private sale impact?

Since it will look better it should increase the value:

Just do what you prefer for now and forget about resale value. How long do you intend to keep the rig for? As was mentioned above you could always put them back on but I think many people wouldnt even notice them missing.

Dont think it would matter either way. Like said, most people probably wouldnt even notice at all, or just think it was a factory "sport" option or something. If they ask just say you removed them to make it easier to wax since you liked to take care of it and detail it alot lol. Because in reality, it is a major pain in the ass to wax around that crap and get it all back out from the crevices......

But yeah, debadge if you want to, save them, and dont worry about it unless they ask about it when you sell it. Otherwise just dont mention it since it's nothing worth mentioning anyway if they dont even notice or care. Not like you're hiding body damage or mechanical problems! :

I have removed badges from almost every vehicle I have every owned, and never once has it been brought up when I went to trade in. I wouldn't stress it too much.

Take a pencil (or crayon) rubbing of the lettering so you have an accurate measurement of the spacing. Also take a moment to measure from the edges of the letters to two body lines, like on the door, measure from the body line betwen the fender and door to the front edge of the letters, and measure down to the upper edge of the lower cladding from the bottom of the letters. This way you can lay out a couple lines with blue tape later on and put them in exactly the stock location if need be, in case a buyer wants them back on for whatever reason (not that I'd worry too much about it, but it's cheap insurance incase you need the info later). Keep the measurements and pencil rubbings folded up in the bag you store the emblems in.

Just removes un-needed clutter from the body. Everyone knows you're driving a 4Runner, it doesnt have to be plastered in big chrome letters on your hatch lol.

It's not like driving one of the big three's cars or suv's which all look the same, and you need a description to differentiate between them.

I like the debadged look because the emblems detract from the form of the body. Everything flows together, beautiful lines, beautilf deep paintjob, then these damn stark blaring chrome letters right in the middle of it all. Blech. Emblems should be an "option" IMHO. I had a dealership remove their dealer stickers from the truck I bought, or told them if they wanted me to advertise for their dealership, they would have to take another grand off the price or I would not buy the truck. They promptly ran it in the body shop and took off the dealership badges on the fenders LOL.
