Decent STEEL bumper for cheap

02 SR5 4WD; Factory bumpers suck, lots of rust on the insides and several soft spots on front and rear. I read through all the bumper threads and couldn't really determine what the cheapest steel option is.

I don't care about much of anything other than I want steel bumpers to replace the weak rusted OEM ones. Front and rear is what I'd like to find.

They aren't cheap. What you think is cheap and what others think is cheap are two different things. But, I would have to say SAVAGE is the cheapest option. And very very good quality.

[MENTION=55891]Bandit Runner[/MENTION] can get you bumper plans if you have a welder, and can weld it together on your own. You can most likely buy a welder, and have the material cut out for a lot less than buying a plate bumper.

The cheapest built front bumper you'll find will be Savage, and it's $500.

Lots of time, work go into welding up a tube or plate bumper. I mean materials can be close to that price depending on how much you buy. To keep it that cheap you need to build your own.

X2 Running me just over 2 grand for front and rear. Only cheap option is to have a friend weld one or weld it yourself.
 
What about getting new chrome bumpers? $100 aftermarket and if they get bent up then you just buy another one for $100. That's what bumpers are for after all.

Not a terrible idea...do the 4Runners without the fat lip bumper bolt up on the 02? I actually like the way the older trucks look better regarding OEM front bumper.

edit; recommended stores/sites to buy from?

Are you in Tennessee 4Runners on Facebook? There's a guy in there, Evan Neise, that is the owner of Xtreme Terrain Off-Road in Chattanooga. He might be able to make something you like.

No, they do not. Unless you make your own brackets.

If you can find a rust-free bumper as a salvage yard, that's always an option. Any aftermarket bumper will be expensive, like others have already mentioned.
 
I was wondering what to do about this as well. I'm too cheap to shell out $700 for a bumper and also don't want to add 150 lbs to the nose of mine. Current plan is to rock it, torn up, rattle can or spray on bed-liner occasionally. When it gets torn up beyond repair, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
