Decided to stick with Revo , BUT then......

I thought you were going to get the Goodyear Silent Armors Falls? I am getting mine in October.

I decided on Revo's again.

I had to realize that no tire does everthing well they ALL have their shortcomings and could not find that do all perfect tire. So I stuck with what I had since treated me good in 90% of situations on and off road and have got great gas milage with them.

That's exactly why I chose the Revo's. From everything I read (and trust me, I read a LOT of tire reviews) it was the best of most worlds.

Even though your tires aren't different , they are new, and that always kicks ass.

Enjoy the new meats and throw on that leveling kit already!

Let me guess...you are not driving your 4runner much these days?? That was my problem with the Firestone Destination M/Ts and my G500. Since i did not drive the G500 much (once or twice/week), the Firestones developed flatspots and went out-of-balance. Not sure if it is the tire's fault or due to lack of driving...i did rotate them every 5k miles on the dot. So, maintenance was not the issue. With the BFG AT KO, i have not had this issue...yet. I am driving my G500 a bit more these days because i want to avoid this issue and because gas prices have come down a tiny bit.

BTW, Firestones are making good tires these days IMHO. They are trying real hard to get their image back. IMO, this is the right time to buy Firestone tires because i am sure that they are trying real hard to avoid another disaster.

Do you think the flat spots would go away when the tire heated up. Do you think your MT's (softer compound ?? ) might have had more weight sitting in less tread contact area where as the BFG as excellent tread contact ( harder compound ) . Just a thought.

Good points. I don't know. My Firestones got bad enough that they went out of balance...so, it was permanent damage. I think that at least 2 of 4 Firestones were bad...so, singular defect is out of the question. Thus, you may be right about the small contact area and soft compound being the culprit.

My OEM tires (Yokohama Geolander H/T) easily developed flat spots overnight. And near the end of it's short life, it went out of balance also. I assume that my OEM had a harder compound than my Firestones and yet it suffered a similar death.

I am sure that BFG AT KO would probably suffer the same fate...maybe later if i drive my G more often. My G is pretty heavy (5500+ lbs), but then again, i park my G in my garage...so, heat is not the culprit either.

So, i don't know...maybe i am just having bad luck??

That sucks , I luckily have not have not experienced any flat spots but then again I'm always on the go and if the 4R sits for a day it's unusual.

Maybe it's just todays softer compounds that are doing it , since you've had it with other tires and Alaskaman has it with a different brand too.

Just a question somewhat unrelated , but with you having tried so many sets of tires do you swap them on the factory rims all the time. I would not think you have multiple sets of rims , because don't you have TPM's on stock rims ?

Nope...just one set of rims. Actually, this is my 2nd set of rims because i sold my OEM 18" rims to get 16" rims for off-roading (and more tire selection). And, no, my G500 does not have TPMS...and i would NOT want it! Why? Mercedes are not known for their electrical reliability/durability...so, i don't want yet another electrical annoyance that will fail thanks to "German engineering." (I do appreciate TPMS on my Sienna and Corolla.)

Thats cool that you could switch to 16's . Wish I could do that. I just guessed at the TPM's on your G.
