Deck and Intake mod.

I did these 2 mods and tightened up the throttle cables. What a difference. Throttle response is much better. Can't say which one did it. Has a nice sound also.

Looks like a toyota camry intake tube. Late 90s v6 I believe

Stock tube, just removed the boxs and replaced them with PVC caps. Drilled a hole in the big one you see there and glued in 2 nipples for hoses to attach to

I was actually going to do the same, but just use a replacement pipe. This may be my route now.

I think his must be an earlier 3rd gen, I heard they changed intake designs or something. I know mine has a small elbow tube/gasket/hose that goes from throttle body to the box, not one long continuous piece like his.

Bummer too, I had to order that little elbow the other day because I noticed mine was torn (and the 4r had been stumbling because of this vac leak). Was like $40 freaking bucks.

That makes sense. I didn't think mine looked like that. I did find a write up on yotatech here that covers the build with PVC style pipe. I'll be doing that soon. I just recently notched the TB gasket so it is fully round, so I'd like to get this and the deck plate in.

The throttle cable adjustment did more than anything. It's funny how you get used to the slack. I did the same on my bro's 4Runner and he thought it was so much faster!

I just popped the hood on my 97 and realized it is the stock tube with pvc plugs. Doh!

Yeah one of the first things i did to my 4runner was adjust the cables made a huge difference in responce and toom a lot of free play out of the pedal. I have yet to do any intake work, all stock to the air filter. I see an Airaid Jr intake in my 4runners future.

Yeah I went with the Airaid and it was worth it! Way expensive but I've yet to regret it haha
