Well guys, I've used the good ole search button to find this, with no luck. Can someone out there tell me what the deck plate mod is, and how you guys are doing it? I'd like to do this today. Thanks!

You basically cut a 4" hole (can be smaller if you want to) out of your air box. The idea is that more air will be taken in.

The whole can be closed if desired.

oh good shit, now I finally understand the whole point of the deckplate thing. thanks david and dewrunner

I haven't done the mod yet but I'm going to try it at some point. It seems simple enough from reading the write-ups on it but can someone who's done it vouch for the easiness/difficulty of it? How long did it take you guys to get it done?

Thanks for the quick response and info, guys. That was very helpful. Took me about 15 mins with the help of my sawz-all. $7.50 for 7 HP, nice! I have to admit, I was a little skeptical when you guys told me it sounded different. I noticed nothing until I got on the highway and went WOT. Sounded alot throatier! Thanks!

This is an easy mod, it was a lot easier for me the second time around but dont get me wrong, the first one was on a 2.7L tacoma, now thats the tough one cause the airbox has ridges instead of being flat like ours.

Congrats on getting it done man!

if you want to get a little bit more power out of your runner, while youre at it, look up the ISR mod. I only suggest doing this if you put in an aftermarket exhaust muffler. a, because it sounds stupid and b, cause opening up the intake makes no difference unless you open up the exhaust too. Doing all of this costs less than $200 and will give you a pretty noticable increase in power. Not huge but deffinately noticable.

I'm having a hard time finding details on this, care to give any details about the ISR?

Trust Matt on this one. I have heard his rig...nice sounding! I also watched it leave me behind on a steep grade while it was flying neck-and-neck with a 4th gen V8. I felt really, really slow...but I bet I had more gas left when we got to the trailhead! ha!
