lmao didnt I tell ya, the gas mileage is going to suffer the first month, lol just cuase your going to ALWAYS "get on it" lol does sound great doesnt it,lol and Thanks for stoping and picking them up :bigok:

I did that mod on my Tacoma and I loved it. Seat of the pants felt that it gave me a little more punch in acceleration, midrange & higher, too.

You know, It might not be a bad idea to put some hose (of the panty variety), or something that filters between that adapter and the box just to give some extra protection in the event of extreme debris in the air. Looks really good.

Seems interesting. I dont understand how making that hole will make the engine sound any different. Your not bypassing the air filter itself your simply cutting a hole in the air box.

Is the original CAI really that restrictive?

do a google search, some have put a peice of screen over the hole, but I had it on my 99, for about 5 years, never had a problem.

again, do a google search, it allows more air through the filter, more air, does make it sound different, and makes the motor run better/easier.

I dont think you can get much cheaper than $16, lol it only takes a few seconds to screw the lid on.. but I ran mine for years whithout the lid on, no real need to put the lid on, unless your in a real dusty enviroment.

Awesome - you really live in the middle of nowhere lol.

To be honest, I dont notice much difference. Perhaps its youtube's compression or my shitty laptop speakers. All I know is the V8 sounds awesome.

Actually I live in city but a short drive you find yourself in Cherry Creek Reservoir which is an Open Space so it looks like it's in the middle of no where. haha!

I was a little reluctant to post this because the difference sounds to be very minimal. However, when you get into the car and actually drive it, or ride along, you can hear the difference as clear as day. And it's a pretty significant difference.

Regarding the sound, is it an engine sound difference or a whooshing sound from the wind in the intake?

Nope - Denver. I took a trip to Oregon for a couple weeks and was posting up seeing if anyone wanted to do a trail run; is that what you were thinking of?

Its a DEEP engine sound - just growls at you :lmao: Sounds like you have a whole new exhaust system.

Listen to this, he has a TRD exhaust but with the stock muffler and a CAI - do you think yours sounds anything like this from the outside?

Not quite as deep but still comparable. I'm going to have a friend video from outside as I rev and possibly do a drive by. Keep your eye on this thread. It could happen within the next couple hours or it might take a day or two

i wish i know about this. I spend $180 for an intake for my camry which wasn't worth it at all
just an idea:
If you add a K&N filter it should give you that DEEP engine sound

My new project

I did something similar on a DOHC Dodge Stealth that I had when I was younger. It made a unique sound that I really liked. I would describe it as a waaaaaaahmp (womp) sound. Hard to explain but is now definitely in the plans for my 4Runner! Thanks for the tip!
