Deckplate Mod - Filter Options

Hey guys,

First post here.
2000 4Runner SR5 V6 2WD

I've been researching the topic like crazy and also ran into the ISR and Elbow Removal mods. I've decided to go with the Deckplate and ISR mods instead of an Injen or K&N CAI. I need to replace my air filter so my question is this.... Would a K&N oil filter be a good choice with the Deckplate mod or should I use a paper filter?

Of all the posts and threads I read no one said anything about using an oil filter with the deckplate mod. I've searched for the Amsoil filter but it doesn't seem to be available anymore, same with True Flow filter.

Should I simply replace my filter with a stock replacement?

I would stay with the stock filter.

Dont use a K&N, they dont seal for crap in the airbox and they let dust right in. Their two piece design allows the filter to separate from the frame and never fully seat. If you need proof theres pictures on like page 4 of my build thread. Stay with a stock filter or if you want a washable filter that works well go with the AFE dryflow.

All the research I did basically says that the two mods are the best route but just want a couple more inputs since all the posts and threads I read were from last decade haha.

I thought most surmised both mods were really useless? that said I really liked getting rid of the resonator boxes and must admit...I like the sound!

I read a ton of people saying the mods were as good as buying an Injen or K&N CAI. Some people said the gains weren't worth the time. Other people said the gain was worth the extremely low cost.

I found that when I did the isr in mine it didn't do anything other than make it louder and decrease the fuel mileage. I never felt a power increase so I just went back to stock

For us who are supercharged, there is a noticeable difference. Gadget's dyno runs just confirm it. For a stock one, there's another dyno run on a stock engine that also shows gains. I run a stock paper filter, since all of the dry "performance" filters are not sold anymore.

Sure did, just slightly under the right diameter but had a muffler place flare both ends to fit.
