deckplate mod?

Im pretty curious about the deck plate mod, i want to do it with my 99 4runner but what are the pros and cons about it?

Pros: it's the cheapest performance boost there is.

Cons: None that I'm aware of.

It will be louder during WOT but nothing major.

I'm glad we have the option of the hole in the airbox instead having to spend a couple or three hundred bucks for a intake kit for the same 7-8whp gain. Even if the deckplate mod doesn't do much it's cheap enough to do anyway.

Did the deckplate mod as per instructions from yotatech. But didn't apply any caulking/silicone sealant to the back of the plate. If I only do street driving do you still think it's necessary to seal the deckplate? My guess is that it's mainly for those that do off-roading in water, but I may be missing a point.

I off road through small streams and hit the occasional big puddle and I've yet to actually put the deckplate in for such excursions and no problems. If you're on the street then even in heavy rain you shouldn't have issues.

Just did my deckplate today. Sounds good WOT. But if you had to reset the efi for more but what about when you put the plate back in? I know it prob makes no difference but just a thought.

I've got a question, got my deckplate today and would like to do the Mod tomorrow, but the Mod calls for a "Sensor-Safe Silicon Sealant, Permatex #598B UltraBlack Hi-Temp" to seal the deckplate to the airbox, where can I get that? and is there something else that could be used instead?

You should be able to find it at any parts store. I used the Permatex Ultra Grey Gasket Maker #599BR
