Deep Snow

As mentioned, it depends on the snow.

Last year I had to put my runner through about 2 feet of snow that was iced over. This did not end well, but due to my driveway being in horrible condition (it's long, curvy and downhill) I had no choice but to park it on the side of the road where all the snow gets pushed from plows.

It was not lifted at the time with the new tires, but it got stuck and would nOT come out. It was in 4wd for all this. Just my luck it didn't want to go into 4lo, and trying to rock it back and forth wasn't working. Imagine being stuck in the middle of a field that's snowed/iced over and you'll have my situation. Somehow I lucked out and it went into 4lo and slipped and slided on out.

Curious to try that again with some meaty tires. Living in CT, I'm sure I'll have plenty of opportunities....

Bump, put new snow tires on my Urban Runner last night and got stuck this morning in my driveway, about 36 inches of snow this morning, well over 4 feet now.

I got it free by applying the brakes and gas at the same time.

Time for a lift kit!

Wow...bringing back an old thread, huh?

BTW, you shouldn't need to use the brakes & gas at the same time. Your 4Runner has ATRAC and that's exactly what it does.....it will apply brakes to a spinning wheel to send power to the other side. And if you lock your center differential, that will give send 50% power to the front axles and 50% power to the rear.
