Defroster ?

I have had my 04 4Runner for a few months now and I have noticed the defroster doesn't work as good as the defroster I have had in other vehicles. If I put it one setting below max fan it hardly works (blows fine but won't clear the window) or if I have it on max split between the floor and defrost vents it doesn’t work that well either. If I put it on max fan and defrost only vent it clears the window almost instantly. Is this normal?

Can't remember off hand but make sure your ac is clicked on for defrost...it gets the humidity out of the air and really helps. I don't remember if it turns it on automatically or not...

The AC is on whenever the windshield or windshield and floor modes are selected. No way to turn it off.

I thought I read somewhere on this site that when on the windshield and floor mode, the AC isn't on. :shrug:

that's weird. when i put the fan on high and put the direction on windshield, it defrosts all the windows in 5 seconds! If that still doesn't work then unroll your windows to equalize the temperature (unless it is raining then i would stongly advise against that )

Mine works almost instantly on high, but barely even on one setting lower, or if I split it between floor and window. At that point it will partially clear some of the window.

Next time I get the chance I will play around again with the AC on and off and outside and recycled air.
