majority of the users here would not ever have a use for this unit. ebay is your best bet.

Regardless of your opinion that "the majority of the users here" not having a "use" for this unit is inconsequential. I've installed DEI alarms in several of my last vehicles, and I'm not a certified, professional installer by trade. Meaning: ANYBODY can use this. Not just the pros!
There are a lot of others who have either installed their own alarms, or may want to make changes to the programming after the install. You can do that by using the BitWriter, and not having to pay a shop to do so afterwards, is a huge plus. It only takes that one member wanting to make his/her install that much easier by using this device.

OK, since you put it like that. Do you have the 3 pin to 4 pin adapter that all the new DEI systems use now?
How is the next user going to get a updated chip if they not a dealer?
If you can install a alarm in your truck, you probably can read instructions and listen to cchirps at the same time.
None the less, it's a helpful tool for DEI systems. I have one in my tool box that is collecting dust too since I only used it once in all of 2013 because another shop locked out programing on the system.
