If memory serves me correctly, I think you're near Burbank right? If so, maybe we can arrange to meet up so I can see them installed in person before I pull the trigger. Demello says that they won't have another batch ready for 2-3 weeks.

I have them. You can use them as a step...not the most practical step, but definitely a step.

Domello rock sliders
I just picked up my sliders from Domello on Thursday. I haven't installed them yet so I don't know how it will work as a step. Domello makes an X-Wing that has a bigger platform for the steps and it extend out flat. I saw them in the shop and they look good, but the style is not what I wanted. Bought them bare steel, thinking I might want to add gussets. They are really stout so no more gussets are needed.
And I thought I could save money painting them myself. Not so. It took me an hour or more to clean the cutting oil and normal shop grime off with mineral spirits (we can't get paint thinner nor oil based paints in Los Angeles County since a couple of years ago). The first coat of Rustoleum primer took 2&1/2 hours to apply with a brush. The paint was old and full of dried paint flecks. Now I have to sand them off before the next coat. I plan to apply 2 coats of primer and two coats of black enamel by brush and two coats of grey by spray can, all Rustoleum products.
But back to the question about KDSS. They started building them differently than what they show on the website to fit the KDSS. They don't show the KDSS, driver's side very well on the website. Only the passenger side. I'm taking photos of mine that they might be able to use to update their website.
Here are some photos of the sliders hanging in my garage before painting. First, the driver's side with accommodations for the KDSS, including one round tube strut and gusset plates angled down to allow clearance for the KDSS lines. The mounting plate has one opening. The passenger side is more like what's shown on the website but with one continuous mounting plate instead of individual plates. All of the gussets extend up to resist bending of the struts at the mounting plate.

They told me they would make all of their sliders for the 4Runner the same whether it has KDSS or not. They didn't have instructions written for them yet but Daniel said just to lift it up and slide it left to get it into position.

They fit just fine with KDSS. You just remove the skids and a couple bolts holding the KDSS lines in place. Once the driver's side is installed put the lines and skids back on. I did cut out 1/4" on the skid plate under the frame that protects the lines just to give it a little clearance. I sprayed mine with bedliner paint. It has a little sparkle in the black for a different look and has held up very well so far.

Step vs protection with sliders

I'm 6 foot tall and still need a boost to get my skinny butt up on the seat. I know my wife and I will be using these rock sliders to step up on.
I posted 8 photos of the sliders above and as I said, I'm still painting my sliders and haven't mounted them yet so I can't say how well these work for a step, but I think the question has been answered here by others. I am more interested in rocker panel protection than having a step that sticks out like a nerf bar, so I chose these.

I finished the 2nd coat of primer today. With short days and cool temps I have to wait a day between coats. Rustoleum says to allow 24 hours between coats at 77F. The highs are in the mid 60s right now when I finish at 4:00 pm it's too soon to repaint the next day.

Thanks everyone for the help and thanks to [MENTION=123578]carlomagne[/MENTION] for letting me see your truck in person. That really made me feel a lot more comfortable when ordering them.
This slider design is perfect for me. Technically speaking, I don't do and never will do any 4-wheeling that would justify the need for me to install sliders. However, I'm planning on going up another inch and my wife and 4 year old son will have a tough time getting in if I don't do something. I've looked at other options such as steps, running boards and nerf bars and a lot of those look kinda pep boys-ish. The OEM runing board for the '15-'16 T4R was an option but even a set of used ones costs almost as much as the Demello sliders. Fitting these onto my '12 SR5 won't be easy though. I've had to purchase the Trail rockers and front caps and '15-'16 rear door extensions that I need to have color matched to the truck by a body shop. I could take the cheap and easy way out and just remove my stock SR5 rockers, install the sliders and call it a day. That would be cheap and easy and I'm not cheap and easy. Plus, my truck would look like shit that way.
Anyways, I'll post pics in a few weeks.

They look good and provide a good step up and into the truck. I'm still trying to figure out how to exit the truck without looking like I'm struggling. The step down is not as simple/easy as the step up.
In Mojave are you? I'll be out at Devil's Punchbowl off Pear Blossom Highway on Sunday. No off roading planned. I'm going to take photos with a bunch of friends. Probably we'll get out there early to catch the good light.
Super Bore is a good day to get outdoors without the crowds.
