Denso fuel pump from an EVO8?

Think you're still missing a 3 in the part# on this post.

Just to add to get the full flow of pump you must hard wire larger gauge wire to the battery with a relay so it runs at full voltage. Also voltage drops at high rpm on stock wiring. Can be catastrophic if you're at limit of pump but no one should be on low boost.

Yeah, I did read that about the voltage drop. This is the same equivalent to the 190 lph Walbro pump that they sell for the 7th injector kit as well as the earlier 6 injector kit URD sells, and several engine builders have told me that's perfect for the size injectors I want to run on the 5VZ-FE. So I think this will work perfect as is with stock wiring.

Yeah for sure. I'm just letting people know if they want a true 190lph of flow they need to upgrade that wiring. Its really a 160lph on stock wiring. Same with the walbro.

I would be shocked if our stock 4Runner pump even flowed at 100 lph on a good day. Any idea what it does flow? Our injectors stock are about 240 cc's.
 
Just to close the loop, the part number I referenced above is NOT plug and play. The male spade of the connection on the fuel pump is too big. This was an Evo 9 fuel pump 195130-3570.

It's also taller so I bent the base of the fuel sender bracket out to fit the pump.

I'm also never dropping a fuel tank again... what a nightmare. Stripped the fuel rail nut :(

I had to do the same for my evo 8 pump.

Why did you touch the fuel rail when doing the pump?

I actually found the job easy other than my damn gas tank being 3/4 full. Lol. Hardest part was disconnecting the electrical connectors.

Oh, didn't mean fuel rail, I was tired yesterday. Meant the high pressure fuel line, ended up taking the line off at the fuel filter because I couldn't get the others to loosen.
 
I am looking to replace the stock fuel pump in my SC 96 4runner. I would prefer to do a Denso. Looks like there are a few different part numbers floating around for the Evo fuel pumps. What part number is the one to get for the most direct fit?

I have also heard rumor that a 4.7 Toyota fuel pump will work. Anyone ever done this? If so, got a part number?

Or do any of you guys work in the parts department? Can you compare a 4runner 3.4 fuel pump to a 1st gen Tundra 4.7 fuel pump?
 
Sounds like the Walbro is an easier install. Will I really hear it over my loud stereo & exhaust? My truck is a beast not a luxury vehicle.

If you are ok with a little bit of soldering work and have the harness from the EVO pump, it's simple enough to install it. I posted the part number a few posts back on the one I got, which apparently flows over 200 lph.

The only reason to switch to a higher flow pump is if you are adding larger injectors. Otherwise it does absolutely nothing for the performance of the vehicle, even with the Supercharger as long as you have the boost hose (the brass barb on the back) hooked up to the FPR. If you are looking for the simplest solution, the Walbro 190 lph pump works just fine, it's just a little noisy. That's what comes with the URD 7th injector kit so it's common and not too pricey.

I'll do some searching for that Evo part number and see what I come up with.

The reason I want to replace my pump is because my 4runner has 235k miles and 200k of that has been with a supercharger installed. I want to replace the fuel pump because I am sure it is tired after all those miles. And I am running the original TRD FMU which increases the fuel pressure based on the boost pressure at a 3:1 rate. Therefore, a larger pump will be beneficial for me even if I do not run larger injectors (Gadget talks about it on his website under "Fuel Pump Upgrade").

I used Part#195130-3570 which is from an EVO IX. I could not find the part number beforehand, I just knew I needed an EVO pump so got this one used.

Take Gadget's site with a grain of salt. His techniques are a bit perfectionist, if that makes sense. He spent A LOT of money of parts, only to take them back out because they either were not needed or did not work correctly. What he ended up with is the 6 injector kit that's sold on URD's website, only to be replaced later with an easier to use 7th injector kit.

If you have the TRD FMU, you're already getting more fuel then stock.

What if you're not upgrading the injectors but adding a 5th injector (3RZ) or 7th (5VZ)?

The 7th injector kit comes with the Walbro 190 but not everyone installs the pump. It's not 100% necessary but it might mess with the tune that comes with the truck though. I don't know much about the 5th injector kit though, unless it's the same thing. I would guess (only a guess) that since the pump is only supplying fuel for 5 injectors instead of 7, a new pump may not be necessary.
