My son recently joined the reserve and was sent over seas;so I have been entrusted with my son's first love...his 1994 4runner 4wheeler sr5. I would like some help to try to fix it up first the tank leaks (rusted out..many pin hole) the locale dealer doesnt have part says they dont make it any more ...do you guys know reliable online where i can order or can one be manufactured.SECOND: it started getting hot under center console also making rachet sound at times like chain pulling when turning sometimes,I had it aligned but still makes sound. It has big wheels on it like snow tires ..the guy that looked at the tank said the truck must have came from up north because of the rust....please help ..I'll appreciate your advice..I dont know what to do.

Aftermarket gas tank

The noises could worn out suspension bushings. Wouldn't hurt to grease the control arm bushings, ball joints and steering. Could be bad CV joint(s) too. Its hard to diagnose without actually hearing it.

The heat in the center console is getting hot because there is a heater for the rear seats under it. Its possible the ball valve is open or stuck open letting hot coolant constantly circulate through it. There is a rocker switch and a temp lever on the back of the console. Make sure the lever is all the way down. If that doesn't work, you could bypass the coolant lines to the rear heater at the firewall.

thx Nate ( I like that name too its makes me think of a strong willed person and "good ole boy") but anyway yes there was a back heater on and that stopped it.and I will have the cv joint checked out.If it not too much of a bother may I be allowed to contact you again on any other issues? I kinda like to have an idea of what to expect when I go to these repair shops.Thank you again for your time.
