Diagnosing a rattle

I have a rattle coming from beneath the vehicle at rpm ranges between 1500-2000 rpm. The rattle goes away at over 2000 rpm, and without the transmission shifting gears. It's been making this noise for about 6 months and it's driving me insane. It's like a high speed rattle that sounds like thin metal. Any possibility it's my transmission? Or the cat?

Check the muffler. I have a rattle and it's deff my muffler.

It sounds like it's coming from the front half of the vehicle though

Possibly the substrate inside the catalytic converter breaking away from the housing.

Had a rattle coming from the heat shield around my cat that was around that RPM.... Found out that one of the top nut/bolts had disappeared, letting the heat shield open up like a clam shell on the top side and rattle. New nut/bolt/washer and the prob is gone.

get underneath and start banging stuff with your hand, your feet, a hammer. You'll find it.
