Diagnosis Challenge - Rattle - Timing Chain, Valves??

So I've turned everywhere and read so many threads and forums that my head is spinning and I still can't get to the bottom of my 22RE 4Runner's rattle under the hood. It sounds like it is timing chain rattle from a worn through chain guide. However, I just replaced the chain, guides, and everything else that comes with it 3,000 miles ago.

I took the valve cover off and the chain guides are still intact and secured in place. I only get the rattle for a few minutes after a cold start-up (classic bad timing chain symptom). However, when the engine warms up, the sound goes away. Then, when I start my car after its warmed up, there is no rattle. Would noisy valves ever make a sound like a timing chain rattle?

I used quality components for the replacement which went very smoothly. Also, as fart as I know, the rattle did not exist before 3,000 miles of driving. I am very lost here. I know I'm in the right place though. I know many of you out there have a lot of experience with these engines.

Pull one plug wire at a time and fire it up; if the noise goes away it could be the rod bearings.

Could be your chain tensioner isn't getting high enough oil pressure at start up.
