Diagram of OK points for a small jack stand? What size wood blocks?

I have a hi-lift jack and a wheel lift/strap. I just got a few standard A-frame jack stands. I don't have rails, custom bumpers, etc. I need to know what spots are OK for the jack stand. I would typically be doing it near one of the tires (since I'd be only using the hi-lift to lift a tire), but it would be good to know what parts of the undercarriage are suitable for it, in general. I know that I need to stick to the frame, away from the obvious stuff (common sense goes a long way here), but still – it would be great if I had a picture with a few arrows showing OK spots for this, and I figured maybe it already exists. It's a 2000 SR5 6-cylinder.

Also – what size wooden blocks do you recommend I bring with me? I hear that suggestion quite a bit, but I'd love to get some specific answers. I typically drive in rough desert areas.

I jack up from under the front LCA since it's the lowest point for the bottle jack. Should be fine right?

I bring a minimum of 4 pieces of 3/4 plywood cut to 1x1' to go beneath the two small jacks (stock OEM and scissor) that I typically bring to the local desert outback.

I put it between the three little round bolt heads or whatever they are, under the lower front control arm. Then stuff wood underneath and remove jack. For the rear, I do the same as far out on the axle as I can.

I lift the front the same as [MENTION=146628]Mark_BC[/MENTION], jackstands as per the manual image

I lift the rear off the center of the diff using a block of 2x4 on top of the jack, to miss the diff drain bung, then jack stands either on the axle or frame per the manual image, depending what I'm working on
